Lunar Landings: 17 Telegames?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone shed light on this cart/game? I LOVE Lunar Lander, so would love a similar title, but when I boot the cart, no controls respond, tried both regular & paddle controlers, I can select game, game starts, but no motion. Bad cart? What SHOULD happen? Am I missing something?

Thank you!

Lee

Are you talking about Outer Space? Here's the manual for the same game under the name Atari sold it by.

YES, thank you, cant believe I didnt try controller 2

What a let down:) Would have been so much better as a true Lunar Lander clone

Outer Space (1977 or so) preceded Lunar Lander (1979) so it would be asking much that it clone it. ;)

You did try the moon landing variations though, right? They're incredibly crude but all the same remarkable because they're an entirely different game from the "3D" target shoot selections towards the front, and all of this in 2k.

It's interesting that this was one of the few games that was deleted from the Atari catalog. Most everything else soldiered on throughout the years. I always thought it was decent for the era, but it was eclipsed by the later games.

Tin - makes sense:) I'll give it some more time, BTW, if anyone hasnt seen it, check out the L.E.M. project, like what hes doing

If you like Gravitar be sure to check out Thrust+ Platinum, should be right up your alley too.

Deimos Lander is another nice Lunar Lander style game. Unfortunately the final version is (was?) only available for the Wii.

Also, have a look at Titan Diamonds and Titan Diamonds 2.

There's a decent Lunar Lander port on the Atari Flashback 2 console and i found this (pretty hard) game in my homebrews folder:

Lander (2008) (Bastian Framke).bin
