carmel_andrews #26 Posted July 27, 2013 (edited) One suspects that info..... wants to dig it's own grave and bury Atari along with it, in regards to Wgungfu's last post (OK so we won't get the 'viking burial' we asked for but this is the next best thing) Edited July 27, 2013 by carmel_andrews
Nall3k #27 Posted July 28, 2013 Jim Wilson is no longer with Atari, I'm curious to see what happens after Retro's post.
Hatta #28 Posted August 5, 2013 Sounds like Wargaming got MOO and TA, and Stardock got Star Control. I'd have rather seen MOO go to Stardock, but their GalCiv is a fine space 4x franchise in its own right. Star Control is more of an adventure game than anything else, which is a departure for Stardock. Hope they do it well.

Stardock is already talking to Toys For Bob (Run by the original creators of Star Control and the two guys who have the rights) about a new Star Control game. Things are happening very fast! I wish they had gotten MOO as well (I really like Stardock) but I think Wargaming will do allright.
Retro Rogue #30 Posted August 8, 2013 Well, with the news out we can finally mention what we were describing as pure chaos and a sleazy "clusterfuck." Infogrames/Atari SA (remember, all the "Atari companies" are one) after seeing the success of auctioning off Battlezone on it's own has now decided to do that WITH EVERYTHING. ALL THE CLASSIC IP. That's right, unless someone manages to pick up a sizable amount of the individual assets plus the separately auctioned Atari brand name, what was left of the Atari legacy is now finished. Way to kick Atari fans in the ass on the way out the door. http://www.law360.co...r-extra-60-days
Atariboy #31 Posted August 9, 2013 (edited) That stinks I gave up years ago hoping for much more to be done with it beyond what has already been done (The 2600 library that didn't require 3rd party licenses and the same dozen or so late 70's and early 80's arcade games that were continually rereleased) although I'd of loved to have seen things like their 8 bit computer line and more of their arcade IP be given attention. But it sucks that even a retread of something like Atari Anthology is now likely to be all but impossible on subsequent generations of gaming hardware. I had no hope in regard to wishful thinking like making Atari a successful modern gaming brand, an independent publisher, reviving its classic IP's with modern installments, etc. But I really hoped that their classic gaming properties would at least stick together and be purchased as a lot so that small portions of it could be continue to be rereleased on modern hardware. I'm not sure what all of this means in regard to server support for current generation games released under the Atari banner. But I think I better pick up Test Drive Unlimited 2 soon if I want to enjoy some multiplayer action with it... na14yu #32 Posted November 14, 2013 Hi all, I'm new here. Been in the game industry a long time and currently looking to revive classic Atari arcade games and re-make / re-imagine games like Asteroids, Centipede, Breakout, Missle Command, etc. I've read through this entire thread but I'm still not entirely clear on who owns the IP for those four games I mentioned. Does anyone know? I would love to find out so I can inquire with the current IP owners. Thanks!
