Clint Thompson #1 Posted February 25, 2003 Hi, Still looking for an Atari Falcon 030 in original case with 4MB of ram or more(or the C-Lab released one that looks just like the original Falcon)... plus internal HD. Anything extra is cool! I would like it to be in very nice condition and obviously working well! Need to do some direct-to-disk recording and I want to do it on a Falcon like I used to....plus I got some games I wanna give a go on the sucker! If your not looking for cash, I also have lots of stuff for trade! Look... : Sega CD and Genesis with over 40 games! FZ-10 Panasonic 3DO with 6 games / 2 controllers Sega CDX (needs minor work with lid closing detection, but works well!) Sega Saturn with over 25 games (Lightgun, 3D controllers, regular controllers, rental case, the works!)(Near-perfectly Mint Saturn!) Sega Saturn Plays Imports/Backups Nintendo 64 with Mario 64 and some games Tons of Baseball/Basketball/Racing Cards Zero 5 and some other stuff for the Atari Jaguar 6 Star Trek games for PC GTA3, Vice City, Freakstyle, Spyhunter for the PS2 PS2 BOXED w/2 controllers & 8MEG Memory Card NEW DSL (Great if your renting a box?) Clint Thompson #3 Posted February 26, 2003 t.skid You know, I checked most of the eBay sites out yesterday like that I didn't even really think about the voltage being a problem... but I did take into consideration that shipping would be insane.... so I just try to keep it in the states for myself. There's was someone selling a Falcon package a week ago or so on eBay, didn't hit the reserve, asked him about it multiple times and haven't had a response, blah... But there's a problem about the 220V PSU... Actually that MAY not be a problem. I bought my Falcon in the early days (4.01) in the UK and used it happily here 220V. Then when i was in Canada during most of 94 i took it with me and it worked perfectly over there too on 110V. So i have a good feeling that at least some of the PSUs were switching. Can't hurt to ask cause most of them will have a 110-220V 50-60Hz label on the bottom anyhow But of course i'm not guaranteeing thats the case with every Falcon Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I bought it in the Netherlands and came with ATARI Netherlands warranty, but the bottom says it's a UK machine. I'll check the PSU itself when i got to open my Falcon for placing a FPU. Clint Thompson Yup, I have a Falcon030, and I'm happy of it . 14Mb and 120Mb HD; I've already a bigger hard disk to mount inside (2GB), but before I need to buy Hard Disk Toolkit 8... Like i say, mine was a VERY early one(TOS 4.01) that i got in Leeds in early '93, and it definitely worked in Canada without any need for transformers etc. I'll look at the label on it tonight and see what it says exactly. Ayreon #12 Posted March 2, 2003 Alright.. i dismembered my Falcon in order to place an FPU. No difficulties with that, but it wouldn't boot again. After taking it apart again it worked.. Hmm? AH! the shielding made contact with my memory expansion. After a little course: "creative with plastic" , it was solved and my Falcon flies again. It uses TOS 4.02. After having a good look at the PSU i don't think it's suitable for 110V. Although I'm not sure. The oscilating circuit on it might be able to handle it, but there's no text or anything that indicates that it can. So i won't try it and watch it oscilating itself to death. Ayreon #14 Posted March 9, 2003 Yeah you never really know with these kinds of PSU's. The oscilating circuit can adapt to the lower voltage and handles the different frequency of oscilating for a right voltage output with ease. I read somewhere that someone used his european 220V TT on 110V for years, so ATARI might have used the right kind of PSU When you're not willing to try, i guess you can pick up a dead cheap ST or something and mount it PSU into the Falcon.
