Astrowar from Dimax finally scanned

Recommended Posts

Did you notice the following text in the manual on image / page number 4?

"Use your Joystick Controllers with this ARTIC VIDEO GAME..."

and

"... at the back of your ARTIC VIDEO GAME SYSTEM game."

Who was ARTIC, and how do they relate to Dimax?

Good work on finding this rare item. :)

Yes, I noticed that as well when I first saw the manual of Space Robot.

The brand Artic had already puzzled me eight years ago:

http://atariage.com/...tic#entry841197

According to ancient old VCS game lists, Artic released exactly the same two games as Dimax / Sinmax, even the same model numbers.

My guess is that this info came from the mentioning of Artic in these Dimax / Sinmax manuals, because no one has ever found an Artic cartridge and I don't think an Artic cart will ever be found.

IMO the word Artic in these manuals almost reads like some sort of an anagram for Atari.

Perhaps an Artic Video Game System does exist, but I doubt it.

BTW: A Space Robot manual with the word Sinmax on the back (instead of Dimax) is known to exist.

I like how both Astrowar manuals show color game objects, but all screenshots are a single color!

I wonder if color was planned for the program, or if when making the manuals they were told, "We are printing in full color so you better use lots of color."

Also in the ad, Sinmax cartridges... available in four different programs: 1., 2., 3. Ha! :D

Yes, scans of this one are certainly welcome.

Thanks!
