Parrothead #1 Posted August 11, 2013 (edited) Hey everyone, We are now in the final testing stages of the most major upgrade since we launched in 2008. We hope to launch the upgraded site some time this month. Some of the new features will include: 1) We are settling once and for all on FREE LISTINGS. We changed at the request of Play N Trade prior to an almost merger with them (that thankfully didn't happen). 2) Our main category search will finally work like Ebay. Once you click on the main categories all listings under that category AND subcategories will be displayed with options at the top to drill down to the sub categories. This will streamline your search 100%. 3) All main categories will appear when clicked with an image and short description of all the consoles you love. 4) Our bidding box will now include the ending time so those that want to snipe will be able to bid and see the official site time all in the same box. And the box will appear without reloading the entire page. Once you see it and use it, you will love it. 5) We are adding a Shopping Cart feature for Buy Now items. This is in addition to the "Watched" listings and a more formal way to store items you can Buy Now. 6) Saved searches are coming too. Save key words that will initiate an automated email to alert you items you are wanting have been listed. We will also have a special page dedicated to showing recent "Saved" searches so those with the relevant items can see what people are looking for so they can list these items. 7) Behind the scenes, we now have the ability to build in SEO for all auction categories and your item listing pages. This will increase our ability to be crawled by all major search engines more effectively. An improved seller invoicing engine for sending invoices to your buyers and combining multiple item purchases for buyers who might by more than one item from you within the same timeframe. There are tons more small things you will notice when using the new site and we are excited to get it up and running. More info coming in this thread as we get closer to relaunch! Also, many of you have free lifetime seller accounts and pay nothing to use GameGavel. It would be great to start the relaunch with a fresh batch of new listings, so please consider dusting off your account and giving it a try! And, with all the past press of rare auctions running (from IGN, Kotaku, Polygon, Yahoo, etc.) on GameGavel and with some fun content being provided by Cracked.com writer, Luke McKinney, we have more traffic than ever coming to GameGavel - 50,000+ Uniques a month. mkiker2089 #7 Posted August 28, 2013 (edited) I stopped going because the lack of items. I'm lazy by nature and I can find most of what I want with a simple ebay search. I had too many game gavel searches come up dry. Consoles are especially scarce. When I wanted a Master System I only found a handful of games and no consoles at all. I wanted a Genesis 3 and found nothing there as well. Lets hope the site builds quickly because if it can't pull people sellers from Ebay then the bidders won't have an incentive to check it out either. I find this interesting. I'm looking at Master System games. Of course listing change but the point will be the same. http://www.gamegavel.com/36900.html Lists the total number of games right now as 21. Sub catgory of boxed games has 33. If I click the category I get a single list of game ending with 21. If I click the sub category I get all 33 games. What's wrong with the search? mkiker2089 #8 Posted August 28, 2013 (edited) Parrothead, can you make a search thing for Firefox? I'm not sure what they are called but in my drop down box I have an Ebay search and a USPS tracking tool. That's crazy useful to me. If you can make one and get it published I think many would use it. I know I would. Edit, found this link for you. It's where I get my search add ons. http://mycroftproject.com/ Edited August 28, 2013 by mkiker2089

nitrosport #12 Posted September 6, 2013 Ah sweet, I just found and purchased an item I've been trying to locate for a great price!!! I just hope the seller comes through as he has 0 feedback. By the way, When I click on add to cart and it tries to make me sign in, I am getting an error message so I had to sign in first then add to cart. If there are any issues with the seller let me know, although I think you will be alright. Might have been an isolated issue with that error message. I tried to recreate the issue and it all seems to be working find when I try the same thing. Let me know if you see any more "bugs"
carlsson #14 Posted September 6, 2013 What does it take to separate at least some of the most common vintage computer systems so they appear in the main list instead of being grouped into vintage computers in general? Even more confusing as the second level of navigation is hardware or software, then comes the selection of system. Usually I'd be interested in all sorts of items for Commodore 64, Atari 8-bit of perhaps TI-99/4A, not that I'm per se looking for either hardware OR software for any kind of vintage computer. Sure, as long as the number of items relating to vintage computers are < 50 and everyone mark their auction title with system, it is somewhat useful but since you have well over 55 different consoles - both vintage and not yet released - listed on the top level, I find it a bit step-motherly to treat the computers differently. I'm not asking that every possible computer system released in the past 35 years should have its own top category, but at least the top 10 most traded worldwide. nitrosport #17 Posted September 6, 2013 I bought an item today that is digital (so there's no shipping) and the shipping says N/A but it wont let me get to the payment screen. It made me request a total from the seller. Is there any way to bypass this and just go to make a payment?

It made me request a total from the seller. Is there any way to bypass this and just go to make a payment? Thanks for the purchase. Just sent the invoice. Can you let me know if you see a Paypal Button within the invoice? And, yes, you should normally, be able to check out on your own when there is a shipping cost designated. Since this was set at $0.00 it asked to have the seller, me in this case, send you an invoice with shipping cost. We will be adding a Free Shipping option soon that will allow sellers to indicate free shipping and then the system will know to let the buyer check out automatically. It's coming Edited September 6, 2013 by Parrothead
nitrosport #19 Posted September 6, 2013 It has a "click here to make payment" link which takes you to a paypal button. Payment coming your you in a minute.
