DaytonaUSA #1 Posted August 13, 2013 I have one issue with Xbox controllers, and one issue only. Their joysticks, unlike Nintendo or Sony ones, quickly start to creep in one direction. The joysticks look centered and are stiff, but they start to creep (most of the time it's the right joystick) after a few weeks of use. Once it starts it never goes away. I know the issue is a known problem. It's caused by a cheaply made metal pin in the sensor box of the joystick. But I've noticed over the years that there's only one Xbox controller that never succumbs to this, and that's the fatty aka duke. I was wondering, does anyone know if the components were built better or if they used a completely different type of tech inside that's more like Nintendo or Sonys sticks? Either way, with the x1 looking very much like a Duke controller, I'd love it if one of the "40 improvements" fixed this issue. At the very least, playing original Xbox games isn't tedious. Gamemoose #2 Posted August 14, 2013 I've only had one Type S controller "drift" on me. The other bunch I have, all used, still work pretty well. I didn't have my Duke long (though I wish I held onto it just for completion's sake) but it was pretty solid. Depending on the size of your hands (I have small hands for a man) the sticks seem to have a different level of torque applied. Whether or not that makes a difference, I dunno. DaytonaUSA #3 Posted August 14, 2013 Oh that makes sense. S and 360 joysticks doesn't have as much tension so maybe they aren't pulled to center as efficiently as the duke. Either way I love the controller, providing you use your middle fingers in the triggers, it's a really comfortable pad.
