fdurso224 #1 Posted August 23, 2013 (edited) Hi guys, A new game for the Neo-Geo AES will be coming in late August called Jockey Grandprix English AES while only are 20 being made and at a price of $1,499.99! Only 4 are left! Here is more from Neo-Geo.com. "Due to numerous unsolved complications, never before has anyone been able to produce Jockey Grandprix on home cartridge format. Involving two years of engineering development, JGP is easily the most complex and challenging MVS to AES conversion to date. This professional (but unofficial) production will be released in snap case format, complete with insert, full color manual, cartridge sticker & gold warning label. Release date is expected to be late August of 2013" Read more on this link http://www.neostore.com/Jockey-Grandprix-English-AES-by-DG-p/1324.htm Anthony.... +Gemintronic #2 Posted August 23, 2013 Is this strictly of value to collectors? For people who just want to play the game is the MVS version and a convertor a better value?
fdurso224 #3 Posted August 23, 2013 Hi guys, Much as I like it and only 20 are being made. I wish I could jump on it. But at that price, I'll just have to pass. Anthony...
goldenegg #5 Posted August 27, 2013 After everything DavidG did with the AF3 carts, I can't believe people are still willing to give him money. I personally doubt that 16 copies have actually sold, but I'll leave that drama for another forum to deal with.
Reaperman #6 Posted August 27, 2013 (edited) Those are fakes. But I found a real pre-production one in the SNK warehouse when I worked there. Will release pics once this batch is released--I don't want to steal the limelight from those repros. Asking $75,000 I meant I found a whole case of them. In the warehouse. Where I was. Y'know. Bring small bills to the airport. Edited August 27, 2013 by Reaperman
+Gemintronic #7 Posted August 27, 2013 Welp. I guess the posts above pretty much answered my question. Seems like plain old fashioned price gouging.
Punisher5.0 #8 Posted August 28, 2013 Yeah it's been stuck at four copies for quite a while. I would much rather give that kind of money to NG: Dev.
fdurso224 #9 Posted August 28, 2013 Hi guys. Is this DG group have a good reputation? What were their past games? Anthony...
Reaperman #10 Posted August 28, 2013 (edited) Hi guys. Is this DG group have a good reputation? What were their past games? Anthony... You have got to be f'n kidding right? DaveG good reputation? I'm being punked here, right? An elaborately constructed practical joke with hidden cameras waiting for my double-take. No, he single-handedly provided the entire helping of drama for the whole neo-geo community for years by selling fakes as real carts for between $25-30k each. The Aero Fighters 3 mess was so significant that it made it out of the retrogaming world to popular internet media outlets. I'm pretty goddamn surprised his products are in the neo store. Hell, I'm pretty goddamn surprised he's been allowed not only to continue living, but return to that insane community in any respect. It was 'pink bicycle' times a thousand over there. We're talking about 'Dramageddon' here. Single...worst...person...to...send...money...to...in...the...history...of...video...gaming. Tempest #12 Posted August 28, 2013 Hi guys, So why is Shawn from Neo-Geo.com allowing him to sell on the Neo Store? Anthony... Anthony... If you haven't already, you really should read the AF3 thread. It's long, but it explains a lot.
Reaperman #13 Posted August 28, 2013 (edited) So why is Shawn from Neo-Geo.com allowing him to sell on the Neo Store? I dunno, maybe a fetish for forum drama or that image of michael jackson eating popcorn. Even the thread linked right in the item description devolves into 40+ pages of "wtf is this?" that has quite a punch-line right about here. There are dozens of great threads over there on that clown. Some of it was great investigative journalism. But to (quickly) sum up the aero fighters 3 mess: Tonk sez: "I got a sekret...US AES AF3 yo. 'Mystery Guy's' got a bunch of them from when he worked for SNK. I "authenticated" them, they's reelz" Then 8(?) of them sold, the highest of which went from $25-30k in an exchange at the airport. Carts were fake. Highly detailed comparisons here 'Mystery Guy' turned out to be a pretty well known repro/conversion guy (DaveG) ...oh yeah, and it probably happened with powerspikes II as well. Some other stuff was also highly questionable Tonk & DaveG nominated biggest douches in the universe tonk gives some money back, jumps on the daveg journalism train. Hi guys, Well thanks for the info about this person. If I'm not mistaken, didn't NGF do something similar and went to court with SNK Playmore? Was the case dismissed? Anthony..... Was the case dismissed? Anthony..... Yeah it was. I forget the reason, but it must have been some sort of technicality or something.
