Videogamecollector123 #1 Posted August 26, 2013 I'm looking for two games, Marble Madness and Dan Dare. I'm only looking for the floppies as I have the boxes already.
BillyHW #2 Posted August 26, 2013 I'm looking for two games, Marble Madness and Dan Dare. I'm only looking for the floppies as I have the boxes already. Just curious, but would any of these floppies still work without error after all these years?
+thegoldenband #3 Posted August 26, 2013 I've accumulated a small collection of C64 games on floppies -- some hand-me-downs, some trades, some bought at flea markets -- and to date, all of the ones I've tried still work. Same with my Tandy CoCo disks.
Mayhem #4 Posted August 26, 2013 Most disks are still fine today, you'd be amazed how well they preserve...
high voltage #5 Posted August 26, 2013 Many carts don't work nowadays
thegamezmaster #6 Posted August 26, 2013 I've got a ton of old floppies and almost all still work. The only ones I've had problems with are Newegg disk, I think that's what they're called.
+FujiSkunk #7 Posted August 26, 2013 (edited) I still have a huge stash of C-64 disks. Some don't load at all anymore, and others flake out on occasion, but a large majority still work as well as they did when I first bought them. Just as an aside, I have a lot of Apple II games as well. Ironically, one of the few Apple II disks I've had go bad on me was... Marble Madness. I once read there was something about the Apple DuoDisk double disk drive that the copy-protection on some EA games didn't like. I've suspected that's what ate my disk, though I can't say for sure. Once again, misguided copy-protection hurting legitimate consumers.
