Mega Man Question.

Recommended Posts

Okay, I played Mega Man 6 for the very first time tonight. Is it me, or does 6 seem a little harded than its predessors?

Also, is 6 the hardest Mega Man to find? I got it for $4.00 at a store called Games-for-Less. I have seen it sell for between $12.00 - $18.00 at Funco.

Yes, I would say MM 6 is harder than the first five. The dual paths to defeating the "true" bosses is more than a tad annoying.

4, 5 and 6 are all quite hard to find. I snagged my 6 new for "closeout" $12.99 at KayBee many years back. I have *never* seen another 6 in the wild, and I've seen less than five 4's and 5's as well.

At one point on eBay, one seller was unloading CIB shrinkwrapped MM6 two a week. I finally got up the nerve to ask him what the deal was after bidding on (and winning a few) of his other auctions and he told me that every game he sold came from a police auction lot :!: :!: :!: I guess some guy had been ordering games from warehouses on credit for years and whenever he didn't pay up he'd switch names and use another line of credit, or some scam like that (you see them on A&E and Unsolved Mysteries all the time, so you pick one that fits). Most of what he ordered he never sold, and when they finally busted him 15 years worth of classic games were impounded. I mean this guy had the motherload - he was even selling a shrinkwrapped STADIUM MUD BUGGIES at one point - it went for well over $160. :!: :!: :!:

So for a while there, MM6 was actually quite easy to get. These days probably a bit harder, but two or three years ago when I was an eBay n00b I got a CIB copy without even trying - I put a lowball last minute bid on one for somewhere between $10-$15 and the one I won just happened to be everything in one shot. These days, $20-$30 CIB would be more realistic, but you might be able to snag a loose one for a lower price with a bit of luck and timing. Rarity though? Not really; certainly not by NES standards.

I wouldn`t say that it is the hardest MM game to find, and i don`t think it is the most difficult either. Maybe of the original series, but i had a much harder time with MM3 due to Doc robots.

I also got MM6 at kay-bee on closeout for $12.99. Actually my uncle bought it for me(my FAVORITE uncle that is). I beat in the first night, i had played a few times before though.

I would say X2, X3, and MM7 are the hardest to find for the domestically released. But for the NES, MM1 has always proved to be a problem for me. Until i found it for $10 bucks mint in box with all inserts. 'Twas a happy day...

MM1 would definitely have the highest value of the 6 NES games just because (A.) It's the oldest and (B.) It was never as popular as the sequels. The lack of a password save feature really hurt this one. CIB would be nice - I have the game only and I've been trying to at least score a box for a while now. It's tough though - it really commands a premium on ePay. X3 is outrageous if it's CIB - I've seen over $100 for it. The only other game that commands that price is Mega Drive Wily Wars (I paid $107 for mine CIB).

Thing about MM1 is, back in the day when it was new, I knew at least four people who had it. We all though it was an awesome game.... and most of us were actually disappointed in MM2 because we all thought it was way too easy.

So I never paid a premium for my MM1... I think I paid like $8 for it from some kid in like 1990.

MM4, on the other hand, was my most expensive 8-Bit. MM. I paid $15 for that, cart only.

I also scored MM7 for $10 from a rental store and a damaged-box X3 for $8 from a different rental store. So in general I've hand pretty good luck with the MM games. But if we're including the X series, X2, X3 and MM Soccer are pretty tough to find and genrally command a highprice tag.

I think $107 is a good price for Wily Wars, considering you get three games in one, plus that extra game. And if you got a nomad, how cool would that be??

I had to pay around $40 for X3 and X2. No box or anything. It was worth it though in the end.

The most i have paid for an MM game is Rockman and Forte. $80 with converter, new in box. It is quite awesome though. I`m glad that it is coming to the GBA, and will be translated finally!!!

Getting all 6 Nes MM titles is one my collecting goals. I have Man Man 1, 2 and 4 already. I just need 3 (again), 5, and 6.

And yes, 5 and 6 are the hardest to find, so is 1.

So it's true that Nomad will play European Mega Drive games w/o a convertor? I had heard this rumor before now but didn't have any proof it was actually true. If it does I've got DOUBLE the reason to get one now. :D

Hey Mega Man Fan you stole my idea! I grabbed a screen shot of Strong Bad during that episode to make an avatar out of it but I got this new girly one and kinda forgot about!

Strong Bad rules man..
