slab0meat #1 Posted September 4, 2013 After reading the thread about three C64 carts, one being River Raid, I'm wondering the general consensus on River Raid's value... I have a loose one myself that had been sitting at my parents' house. Is it actually that rare? http://atariage.com/forums/topic/216084-who-needs-c64-carts-espial-pastfinder-river-raid/
SpaceDice2010 #2 Posted September 6, 2013 I sold a loose one on Ebay a year ago for about $25. It's a rare title as Activision released most games on disk. Not worth $50 imho.
Mayhem #3 Posted September 6, 2013 River Raid and Pastfinder are arguably the two hardest Activision carts to find (especially CIB), but they're not stupidly rare, more in the uncommon region.

carlsson #5 Posted September 6, 2013 For what it is worth, Sam64H (Lemon64 etc) sold a loose River Raid cartridge in June 2012 for £12, which would be slightly less than the $25 which SpaceDice2010 obtained. I suppose the best way to figure out what it is worth is to list it on eBay with a reasonable starting price. Then again, if you list it too cheap you might find yourself getting it sold instead of just being a price check.
Mayhem #6 Posted September 7, 2013 Activision sold a whole bunch of sitting stock to Australia in the mid 80s, which is why trying to find the cartridges themselves per se isn't too hard, especially loose. And if you look in Australia. HES (Home Entertainment Suppliers) resold most of the cartridges with its own packaging (clam shells) on top, so there are effectively two versions of many of the titles. I've seen more boxed HES versions of River Raid than I have Activision boxes, that box appears to be like hen's teeth! And I've only seen a couple of Pastfinders, so I really do think that was manufactured the least of the lot.
