DaytonaUSA #1 Posted September 8, 2013 If you do, please support Keiji Inafune's spiritual successor on Kickstarter, Mighty No. 9. He's almost at the stretch goal for Wii U/PS3/360 ports. Rumors are 3DS and Vita are coming next. The game is what Mega Man would have naturally evolved into (power wise) had Capcom not had such a tight leash around his creative neck. Check it out: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mightyno9/mighty-no-
Pixelboy #2 Posted September 8, 2013 Looks like good ol' Inafking is giving Capcom the Mighty Finger. Good for him.
DaytonaUSA #3 Posted September 8, 2013 Looks like good ol' Inafking is giving Capcom the Mighty Finger. Good for him. And hey if is takes off maybe we'll be able to get Mighty No 9-anized versions of the mega man games capcom canned after he left.
Metal Ghost #4 Posted September 8, 2013 I'm planning on supporting this. I've never been a huge Mega Man fan, but nonetheless this looks great. To be honest I'm waiting until I'm more assured of there being a console version before I committ. Yes, I know, kind of falling into a chicken or the egg thing here, but what can I say....don't really want to play on a PC.
sqoon #5 Posted September 8, 2013 Do You Love Mega Man? No. Never got into it in the NES heyday, nor do I understand the prices that Mega Man games go for these days. I do need many of them to fill out my NES and SNES collections, but with current pricing it will be a while.

Yes, I know, kind of falling into a chicken or the egg thing here, but what can I say....don't really want to play on a PC. I doubt he won't hit that stretch goal. He's nearly there. They think they'll get well past it as we'll since they are about to put up more stretch goals. You could always pledge now, and in the extremely off chance it's not funded pull your pledge on the last day.
+save2600 #7 Posted September 8, 2013 Never cared for the MegaMan series either. Just a boss fighting fest really, with most/all the objectives and things to do in a regular platformer missing. Wasn't someone working on a 2600 version?

+save2600 #10 Posted September 9, 2013 My apologies... wasn't there *a* MegaMan game (X on SNES?) where all you did was battle boss after boss with nothing much in-between? Just YouTube'd the original NES game and it's clearly a "regular" platformer. My bad. Still don't care for it though. Little too cartoony or something for me. Wow you're missing out on so many good games. Heck, pretty much any nes and snes game... Edited September 9, 2013 by DaytonaUSA
sqoon #12 Posted September 9, 2013 Not too cartoony for me, just too Japanese in overall style and feel. Same way I could never do Pokemon, Pikmin, or other Japanocentric games. Just not my cultural style.
+save2600 #13 Posted September 9, 2013 Hey, I didn't exactly say they sucked, just that they're not my cup of tea. Reason I couldn't get into or appreciate the likes of Parodious, Magical Chase, Kirby or as you said, a lot of the Nintendo stuff. Legend of the Mystical Ninja though, I really really tried. "Japanocentric"... yeah, that pretty much sums it up.
128Kgames #14 Posted September 9, 2013 You could always pledge now, and in the extremely off chance it's not funded pull your pledge on the last day. You realize by doing that you'd be defeating the whole purpose of Kickstarter? No project would get off the ground if everybody approached them that way. Algus #15 Posted September 9, 2013 Very hopeful that this project succeeds. It looks pretty good. The Mega Man games retain valuable as the series is fairly popular and the later games on both the NES and SNES were released relatively late in those consoles life cycles and in fewer quantities. X series on SNES is particularly good as the replayable stages and hidden items add tremendous replayability and explorability. I never found these early games "too Japanese" outside of maybe the art in the manuals though that is probably a valid complaint for later games. If anything, the most valid criticism of the franchise is that it is relatively stagnant. It never took huge risks. Even Mega Man X, which added a lot IMO, rehashes the same core concept of eight selectable stages.
Osgeld #16 Posted September 9, 2013 no, never got into them, cant get into them now, fidgety little game to me
godslabrat #17 Posted September 9, 2013 I really like this project, but it would have been nice if at least ONE of the reward levels included a physical copy of the game.
retroillucid #18 Posted September 9, 2013 I will support Inafune for sure! Capcom can go to hell , without Inafune, they are screwed Go Mighty number9 !!
Austin #19 Posted September 9, 2013 You could always pledge now, and in the extremely off chance it's not funded pull your pledge on the last day. There's no point in pulling the pledge though. If a project isn't funded, backers aren't charged, so there is no need to withdraw from it.
cimerians #20 Posted September 9, 2013 He's a legend, I love this and I hope it succeeds but I'm not the biggest Mega Man fan out there. Ridiculously hard games but I find them addicting to play, probably because of that same difficulty lol
famicommander #21 Posted September 9, 2013 I have every Mega Man action-adventure-platformer there is except for Mega Man Game Gear, 9, and 10. I don't own Mega Man Game Gear because it's awful and I don't have 9 and 10 because they're only available with DRM. I have MM 1-8, Rockman World 1-5 (JP imports of the MM GB titles), Mega Man and Bass GBA and Mega Man and Bass: Challenger from the Future, MM X1-8, MM Xtreme 1 and 2, Command Mission, Network Transmission, EXE WS, Zero 1-4, and ZX and ZX Advent. Also X Collection, Anniversary Collection, Zero Collection, Rockman Battle and Fighters, Mega Man 64, and Mega Man Legends 2. So yeah, I pretty much like the whole series short of the Battle Network and Star Force RPGs. I've backed the Kickstarter already for the DRM-free Linux version. If Capcom can't do anything worthwhile with Mega Man I'm glad Inafune is keeping the spirit alive.

godslabrat #23 Posted September 9, 2013 i just changed my pledge from $20 to $60 as i want a physical copy of this baby. From what I'm reading, the $60 level gets you a physical box, but the game itself is still digital.
famicommander #24 Posted September 9, 2013 They've mentioned that they're looking into a physical game release but they have not posted an update on the matter since. If they do announce a physical release I will up my pledge in a heartbeat.

Just YouTube'd the original NES game and it's clearly a "regular" platformer. My bad. Still don't care for it though. Little too cartoony or something for me. You're Thinking of Mega Man: The Power Battle & MM2: The Power Fighters which were arcade games, only home versions are included in the Mega Man Collection for PS2. Back to the topic, I know this is another "Famous designer can't get game published so make a Kickstarter plea" but this is the first time a Japanese game developer has turned to Kickstarter. Inafune always did understand the Western game market better than his old company did...
