Atarinvader #1 Posted February 28, 2003 ... the PS2. Not really a replacement, but my newest console yet. Picked it up real cheap using a perfectly legal retail scam and I'm very very happy with! I got ICO and Capcom Vs. SNK 2 on it, aswell as an Auto Modelista promo I already had and I'm really loving it (but not the price of the memory card Bad Sony, bad!). I don't want this to turn in to a 'X modern console is great and I'm not a fanboy, honest!' kind of thread, but this, for me, seems to be the best console out there right now. Although the X-Box and GameCube has great software, neither seem to have the developers behind them like the PS2 does, especialy obscure quirky Jap developers like Treasure (despit Ikargua on GC). My current want list is: Rez, Freak Out, Activision Anthology, Metal Slug 3 (looks unlikely for UK release), Guilty Gear X 2, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Silpheed and Gradius. Any of those duffs? JerseyDevil #2 Posted February 28, 2003 The memory cards are expensive but they have a huge capacity. I still have only one for all my games.
Dracula-X #3 Posted February 28, 2003 Congrats! Good choice with ICO, though it might not be a game that appeals to all. It happens to be one of my favorite games on the ps2. For those that don't know and like puzzle/adventure games ICO is a must have: super quality, beautiful in its simplicity - no hud, no extra lives, no health meter, no inventory. Beautiful, innovative puzzle adventure - it has earned a buttload of awards - ICO is a reason to own a ps2 ICO2 is in the works I believe...
Foxy Cleopatra #4 Posted February 28, 2003 Get Devil May Cry, the first one, and Maximo then your PS2 might be worth owning.

Atarinvader #7 Posted February 28, 2003 I've just gotten an hour in to Ico and I can say that it is simply stunning and deserves to sell a lot better than it did. A guy returned it at work today stating it wasn't his sort of thing. Shame. It seems so far to be pretty fast moving and easy(ish), which is a refreshing change from long-winded RPGs, plus it is so much more logical than Zelda or something. 'Well done Sony', is all I can say. BTW I have the limited edition cardboard set with art cards which is very very nice, makes it so much more worth owning than the standard plasticy case. Foxy Cleopatra #8 Posted February 28, 2003 ICO is definitely a beautiful game and fun to watch. I can't remember, it doesn't have any music, does it? That is also a refreshing change, although many games have really good soundtracks.

I heard it sold ok, it got nothing but positive coverage and several awards. Really can't wait for the sequel. Have you met the 'dark lady' yet? Dont want to spoil anything obviously, but she's amazingly done too. I missed the limited ed. unfortunately. Foxy: It totally is a refreshing change, the game is innovative that way. It does have short bursts of music, like when the monsters come out to claim the girl and I think also when saving if I remember right, but that's it, the rest is pleasant environmental sounds... What I really enjoy in ICO is the lengths they went to for the small details, like when you start running and yank the girl along, the physics are realistic. And when she gets scared, or comes running to you, she seems to convey emotions. kickass game.
MegaManFan #10 Posted March 1, 2003 Get Devil May Cry, the first one, and Maximo then your PS2 might be worth owning. For all the times I've gotten hosed lately trying to get GC games cheap (finally had to break down and pay $20 for SSX Tricky) I at least managed to score Maximo for PS2 for $15. theaveng #11 Posted March 1, 2003 Final Fantasy 10 is a must-have. Ditto Gran Turismo 3. Ditto Final Fantasy Tactics.
Mikau #12 Posted March 2, 2003 Klonoa 2 is one of the finest platformers ever. Wild ARMs 3 is the most under-rated RPG ever made. Also play some good PS1 titles, like Symphony of the Night.
