+Gemintronic #1 Posted September 10, 2013 Not sure if anyone else has tried this. I'm starting fresh with the PS3 version at normal difficulty and NOT leveling up. I'm trying not to enter dungeons so the monster/item level doesn't get set to 1 as well. I have the 3 DLC from Legendary edition installed but I'm saving Solstheim for last. Item drops are of course awful. The best weapon so far has been an axe ripped from a Forsworn. Armor has been from Imperial soldiers. Basic Necromacers robes give you %75 mana regen. I used the clipping bug to walk into the Thalmor embassy and gank the guards for their elven armor. They don't seem to be in a faction so my bounty didn't go up. Anyone else try a level 1 run? Algus #2 Posted September 10, 2013 IIRC the light elven armor that a lot of the Thalmor wear isn't as good as regular elven armor. Equivalent to iron IIRC I'd look for anything that buffs smithing as an exploit to improve your gear
cimerians #3 Posted September 10, 2013 Never tried it but it sounds kind of fun in a bizarre way since I did hold back on Oblivion and that game was a lot easier as a lower level character...or at least it seemed that way. I have to agree, try and find apparel that boosts smithing and potions that boost smithing and wear\drink both. So your not leveling which means your not applying any skill points right? Hmmm...I wonder if it can be beat completely bare handed and no armor.
+Gemintronic #4 Posted September 10, 2013 Yep. Not going up the skill tree because the SECOND you go to the skill menu it automatically levels you up. Which means I can pretty much just craft iron weapons/armor. Thankfully, enchanting doesn't seem too dumbed down. Vampires seem to be rocking destruction + mana regen armor at best. I've managed to pick up Meeko and that first elf archer that offers archery training. Of course, you can only do that about five times without leveling up. cimerians #5 Posted September 10, 2013 Right...also one of the expansions, the Vampire one...allows you to become a Vampire Lord but again I think you would have to go into the skills menu for Vampire skills. At least you can float around and stuff. Have you played the DLC before? Funny, I'm currently playing the Dragonborn DLC and played just last night. Trying to get all of it done on PC and then someday I'll play the console version and do a speed run. Its either a speed run through it all or a Level 1 run like your doing. Well...post here. I'll take notes.
+Gemintronic #6 Posted September 10, 2013 No DLC yet. Though I did take a peek at Solstheim and then reloaded. You're basically forced to steal and pickpocket for slightly higher level items. I tried snatching a smithing enchanted bracer from Grelka while she slept. I saw a %40 percent chance so I went for it.. ..turns out it was ***** %4 ****** percent chance!!! By the time I realized this Grelka and the guards had smashed me into slow motion game over. To add insult to injury one of the Riften guards actually bothered to kneel down twice over my corpse for a proper teabagging!
+Gemintronic #7 Posted September 26, 2013 Been awhile. Here's a rough sketch of notable things so far: * Learned about the hidden Dawnstar chest. Only made one or two runs. Still only able to hold 320 to 340 capacity max. * Owned the Wispmother by staying out of aggression range. Meeko and my companion kept getting hit unintentionally by the wisps until they went apespit and slowly killed off everyone including the Wispmother. * Owned Krosis by running behind some tall cliffs. He fell down below and couldn't pathfind back to me. I sat there spamming Flame Atronachs until he died. * Wasted much time trying to pickpocket back a ring that a shopkeeper mistakenly possessed. Turns out YOU CAN'T just put the ring back on the lady who owns it. You MUST follow the stupid quest requirements and place it back in her house. * Hid in front of some rocks facing a giant camp and forced the joystick to make me sneak back. Got to 100 percent sneak but LOST my companion. No body. Waiting and fast traveling doesn't get them back. Fug.
