+intvsteve #253 Posted October 25, 2013 Funky formatting in the quote, inserting extra slots in the list. So, what are the *three* Elektronite releases then? I thought both D2K Arcade and DKArcade (CiB) were in 2012.
Ignorama #254 Posted October 25, 2013 Maybe Kroz will be released this year
+intvsteve #255 Posted October 25, 2013 Ouch... a double hit on the wallet right at the end of the year from Elektronite for Paddle Party and Kroz? I'll need to moonlight just to earn enough to keep up with all these new releases!
Ignorama #256 Posted October 26, 2013 It was not a final answer, I just could imagine that it will be released soon. If not I wonder which title it is.
Rev #257 Posted October 26, 2013 I'm hoping mousetrap will be ready to ship this year, if not it will be a January release i think!
Ignorama #258 Posted October 26, 2013 But its nothing for the poll Even Tron Complete just contains older games, right? They are nice collectibles, but in fact they are old games.
Rev #259 Posted October 26, 2013 Dk arcade is a repackage of d2k which is basicly a remake of the original dk. It has original code in it if i remember right. Super chef BT is a reverse engineered remix of original. Tennis is basicly the same as original. But with new 1 player AI. So, these three are really just older games too. Elektronite's DK Arcade was a repackage of IntelligentVision's edition that came a couple of years earlier. If I recall correctly, IntelligentVision released Carl's Donkey Kong Arcade on 2011; then Elektronite released Carl's D2K on 2012, which included Donkey Kong Arcade as "game one" (with some bug fixes); then in 2013 they re-released the same game as DK Arcade (or D1K, I can't keep track), with a new box, some bug fixes, and a re-ordering of the levels. I wouldn't consider DK Arcade to qualify as "game of the year" for 2013. Didn't it win in 2011 already? dZ.

Well, I think we have all agreed in the past that D2K is its own game, even though it is basically DK arcade with new levels. I think Super Chef BT falls in the same category. I also believe there was considerable effort put into making Tennis into a single player game, when the first one was completely devoid of AI. It's not only a re-release. In my mind, that makes it a new game, especially if it is a remake of a 30 year old title. If Mousetrap and TRON Complete contain the old ROMs with new packaging, I think it's like the re-issue of DK Arcade. Imagine if we had voted every year that Joe released a new edition of 4-Tris--it would be the game of the decade!

I say we add to the poll every released cart. Games out in january are in the middle earth: should we consider for the 2013 or 2014 pool

Rev #264 Posted October 26, 2013 I say we add to the poll every released cart.Games out in january are in the middle earth: should we consider for the 2013 or 2014 pool I agree. It dont matter if remake, reissue, hack, or whatever. I also think if the sears overlays release this year, you should add them!!!! It would be interesting to see if it got any votes over an actual game.

It would be interesting to see if it got any votes over an actual game. How about this: I propose we create two polls (or one poll with two questions): 1. What is your favourite game of 2013? 2. What was the best overall Intellivision-related release of 2013? That way, we don't pit non-game items against games, and at the same time, we get to vote on what general item excited us the most. I can imagine, for example, Paddle Party winning game of the year, and the Sears overlay pack winning best release. What do you think? -dZ.
Ignorama #266 Posted October 26, 2013 Nice idea. Its really sad that just a two handful of people could vote for the stick of grips, because this thing is the hottest candidate for the item of the year.

Rev #269 Posted October 26, 2013 Why so why stop there? Valter could make multiple catagories. Of course the top one: 2013 Intellivison game of the year Then: 2013 intellivision related release Then maybe: Graffix of the year Box art of the year Sound of the year Gameplay of the year
Ignorama #270 Posted October 26, 2013 The problem is, I really like this idea, even if there are more categories than games ^^

Valter should include the DOTC demo cart! And If the Hover Bovver Half Cut Demo cart is actually released in 2013, it should be included! And maybe the empty HB box as well! It never ends!
