pitfallaimee #27 Posted February 28, 2003 I use a 13" 1982 Sears Solidstate that looks as though it's been through a war and two depressions. There's something wrong with the vertical hold, too, that makes the picture have a big streak across the top, so I covered that up with electrical tape. It no longer recieves regular TV stations because I lost the antenna long ago. The picture is terrible, and sometimes it loses sound or color for no apparent reason. The TV has been dropped from various heights, it's covered in stickers, and the fake woodgrain is starting to peel. There's a lot of styrofoam glued to it for reasons I cannot guess. But it's my favorite TV!
angrybrit #28 Posted March 1, 2003 I've got a JVC 27 inch TV with component in the back! That's where the GameCube is setup.

Eduardo #31 Posted March 1, 2003 I use a 29" Zenith in the living room, 26" Daewoo in my bedroom. There's also a couple of 21" TVs (Sharp & Daewoo) and a new 13" Sony but I usually play videogames using the first two mentioned above. Back in the good old days we had a 24" RCA (3 button remote control, wood cabinet) in our living room and a 13" Sony (knob controls) in my bedroom. They're no longer in service but my point is that from all the TV sets that I've tried with my 2600 the 24" RCA was definetely a match made in heaven for Stella. Mock #34 Posted March 1, 2003 Just a follow up...I picked up a 20" flat screen Emerson (Stereo) at Wal-Mart for $148 and it's awesome...hooked up my buddy's X-Box to it and tried it out, then hooked up the 2600...works great, sounds great, and looks great. Could not be happier and now my NES gets the hand-me-down 19"...lol. If you guys need a good cheap flat screen, this is the one! I also know this guy in Alabama who has those old 60's tv's that are egg shaped in the bright colors...very groovy. Be good for a project of some sort...lol. Jayson #36 Posted March 1, 2003 I've got systems hooked to everything from 32" down to 9''. It has been my experience that when playing any lower resolution system it is best to hold to 19" or less to keep the graphic flaws from absolutely overwhelming the game. We even did that with less than satisfactory Playstation games when I was doing PR. Smaller screen hides a multitude of sins.
theaveng #37 Posted March 1, 2003 It has been my experience that when playing any lower resolution system it is best to hold to 19" or less to keep the graphic flaws from absolutely overwhelming the game... Smaller screen hides a multitude of sins. By that reasoning, I'd need a watch-sized screen to hide the Atari's sin! hahahahaha!I use small old 12" - 14" TVs. You gotta have a TV to match the age and feel of the Atari. I love the way the picture looks on those old TVs.-PaulHow come your screen has strange-looking color bands all over it? ME: 17" VGA for emulation. 27" standard TV for PS2/GC. Plus, 4.1-channel surround sound for both. Note on the surround sound: A high-quality sound system can make even a small-screen game seem larger than life. When you are playing a game and hear an enemy sneaking up behind you, you are IN the game. I *love* that level of realism.

gulag picture radio #40 Posted March 1, 2003 I have a 27" TV in the living room with sound running through a Carver amp with some huge speakers from a recording studio. Needless to say that games with great tunes are outstanding on these speakers - especially modern games like Jet Grind Radio and Rez on the DC. I pretty much switch out systems on the living room TV. I've also got a better quality 27" in my office with a 2600 more or less permanently hooked up, but it's got lots of AV inputs for swapping various systems. When we had our epoch-making Atari party (geez, I can't believe that I'm still talking about this) I had a buttload of 19" TV's that I'd scavanged from various alleys. I painted them all with fluorescent paint, and glued on various strange things. There were a half-dozen of those which served well, but I must tell you about the best TV's for the party. I found a Zenith 25" TV who's cabinet is curved. It is SO 70's and was brilliant for Atari. It even had a "zoom" function. Sadly it was destroyed in a flood. At our party, one of the TV's burned out so I quickly replaced it with a 9 inch B/W. That became very popular, with people lining up just to play on the teeny screen. All of those cool TV's were destroyed in the aforementioned flood, but I did recently pick up a cool TV for future gaming parties. It's a 13" Memorex TV that sold through Target. It's a red ball with a red transparent shield that covers the screen when you're not using it. It resembles the old JVC black and white VideoSphere that a lot of TV collectors are into, but it's color. You can't get the TV anymore unfortunately, unless your Target has leftovers. it's still on their website if you want to see it - search for "videoball". I should also mention that Target's Hello Kitty 13" TV is on sale pretty cheap if you like that sort of thing. Kmart has some novelty TV's too if you want to pick up something crazy for your Atari needs. Look for teh PHilips TV that has a nightlight and clock built in! I've written too much here again, haven't I...
