José Pereira #1 Posted September 18, 2013 (edited) I was thinking today about possibilities of geting something similar of Armalyte and yes, we know that for these sort of games the C64 is lots more easy and beter because of all it's hardware sprites. But I have something in mind using some things that would fit 100% with the Xuel's code on X:8 with some remaking.Maybe not a straight copy (seems impossible) but wanna see the Levels map to get some ideas from there.I know that there's that C&VG magazine levels map but if real .png or .bmp real colour and resolution would be the best.Anyone ever saw these anywhere or could help?Or is there any way you on C64 playing the game, like, for example, in an Emulator CCS or VICE with Infinitive Lifes extract a level map of a game? Thanks. Edited September 18, 2013 by José Pereira
+JAC! #2 Posted September 20, 2013 Armalyte ( ) has the different levels loaded from disk in a special packed format. Each level is divided into sections (always ending with a single black screen and some boss ship). The next section is unpacked during that blank screen. It would take forever extracting all this manually during the game play, freezing at all the right times (I know it, I once tried :-)

Rybags #4 Posted September 21, 2013 Hmmm... best method in such cases is probably to do a vid cap from emulation with some cheat/hack enabled, then do the painstaking part of copy/paste individual screen tiles. And probably be left with bits of enemy over the terrain. Maybe a hack could be employed to disable all the sprites although there's probably going to be some softsprite artifacts left over. José Pereira #5 Posted September 21, 2013 Armalyte uses 5x5 chars size tiles and all the levels map is in their game map construtor program Charpad.
