mulder32 #1 Posted September 19, 2013 I recently won a CV on ebay with a few games (and a couple super action controllers), and have some questions: 1) The color is pretty faded and I read that the power supply might have something to do with it. The power supply that came with it was duct taped and when I took it off it looked like the big box was coming apart so I may need a different one. How exactly does the power supply affect color saturation? Seems weird. 2) I need some of the old games I had when I was a kid...where is the best place to get them? I know Ebay is out there, but any place else? Does anyone here sell them? I'm mainly looking for Popeye, Omega Race, DK Jr, and Miner 2049er. Am also interested in Cosmic Avenger, War Games, Time Pilot, BumpNJump, Rocky Boxing. 3) Can anyone recommend some of the better games (besides the ones I'm looking for). Thanks for your help! I can't wait to get back to CV again!
Unbeliever #2 Posted September 19, 2013 (edited) Congratulations on your CV that you obtained. Although I can't answer your technical question about the power supply (I'm sure someone here can), I can suggest that there are a few places to obtain games for the CV. Namely, around here (by checking the marketplace) or posting a "wanted" of the items you're looking for. Game Gavel (http://www.gamegavel.com) might have something you're looking for, and some people selling there still take money orders (a major plus in my book). A game you might want is Venture for the CV. It's pretty fun to play, has adventure/action elements, and is colorful with good sound effects. Ebay and Amazon might be other places to check for games. There's usually something on those sites for everyone. If you're into arcade games, they look pretty darn good on the CV. I believe there might be some games created by people around here on Atari Age, but I'm not certain. Hope this helps a little bit, and enjoy your new system! Manoau2002 #3 Posted September 19, 2013 Atari2600.com is another option for buying games He has a reasonably big stock of coleco games and the prices are fair.
nanochess #4 Posted September 19, 2013 Don't forget to check mumbai's list http://atariage.com/forums/topic/168225-fs-colecovision-cartridges/
ColecoDan #5 Posted September 19, 2013 Also ebays step child what is it half.com they usually sell carts pretty cheap. Also there is a thing called AtariMax if you do a search on google you will find it. It is a cart with an SD card and then you can download the games to make sure you like them before you get them if you still want to have a cart. I like Threshold a lot but that one is hard to find and will cost a little more.
VectorGamer #6 Posted September 19, 2013 Don't forget to check mumbai's list http://atariage.com/forums/topic/168225-fs-colecovision-cartridges/ Mumbai is the first person you should see when getting carts. Every purchase I made from him I received cartridges that looked brand new. A+ seller in my book. Some good games that I think you should pick up: Astro Invader (available from the AtariAge store) Bank Panic (you may be able to pick this up at GoodDealGames.com) Beamrider Bump N Jump BurgerTime Carnival Centipede Cosmic Avenger Defender Donkey Kong Donkey Kong Junior Frenzy Frogger Galaxian Gorf Gyruss HERO Jumpman Junior Jungle Hunt Lady Bug Lock N Chase (another homebrew - may be available through GoodDealGames.com) Magical Tree (another homebrew - may be available through GoodDealGames.com) Mario Bros. (currently sold out - may have to see if it ever shows up on eBay) Miner 2049er Mouse Trap Mr. Do! Mr. Do!'s Castle Oil's Well Omega Race Pac-Man Collection (currently sold out - may have to see if it ever shows up on eBay) Pepper II Popeye Q*bert Roc N Rope Root Beer Tapper Side Trak (another homebrew - may be available through GoodDealGames.com) Slither Smurf: Rescue Space Fury Space Panic Spectar (available from the AtariAge store) Spy Hunter Squish 'Em Sam Star Force (another homebrew - may be available through GoodDealGames.com) Star Wars Subroc Super Cobra Threshold Time Pilot Turbo Tutankham Up N Down Venture Victory Zaxxon That's a large list, but to me those are all good games to add to your collection. Keep in mind that homebrews are limited in availability so if GoodDealGames.com has any you'll want to buy those first before they sell out.

ColecoDan #8 Posted September 19, 2013 Even if the power brick is not the problem I would want to go buy a new one anyway because a taped up falling apart one is not worth burning down your house when I think you could get an new one for like 15 or 20 bucks. mulder32 #11 Posted September 19, 2013 Something weird happened the last time I played (this morning). All of sudden, the color saturation came back, but then disappeared a minute later. Also, I started to get "ghost" images and some general flickering. Do you think this leans more toward the power supply, or away from it?
Deadbolt613 #12 Posted September 19, 2013 Try wiggling the power switch around a little bit. It may need torn apart and cleaned. I had picture issues with mine and after cleaning and regreasing the switch it works perfect.
mulder32 #13 Posted September 19, 2013 Try wiggling the power switch around a little bit. It may need torn apart and cleaned. I had picture issues with mine and after cleaning and regreasing the switch it works perfect. This makes some sense as the the switch doesn't "click" when you turn it on, it just moves up. How do I get the CV apart to check it?
Deadbolt613 #14 Posted September 19, 2013 There are screws on the bottom and 3 hidden screws behind the sticker on the front. If you slowly and carefully peel the sticker it should be alright and stick back on.
Pixelboy #15 Posted September 19, 2013 There are screws on the bottom and 3 hidden screws behind the sticker on the front. If you slowly and carefully peel the sticker it should be alright and stick back on. There are ways to remove the console's casing without peeling off the front label sticker. There's documentation available on these forums on how to do it.

It's not really supposed to "click" per say. but you should feel a certain contact when you push the switch all the way to the top.

Yeah, I know what you mean--i couldn't think of the rights words. When I turn the CV the power button moves like it's in quicksand. Very mushy.
