Kamshaft #1 Posted October 15, 2013 (edited) I've seen serveral threads with recommendations to use the Deoxit brand of electronic cleaner. The problem that I have is that there are so many different products from CAIG, and I have no clue which specific product to get. http://caig.com/ Could some you share your trials/recommendations on which specific product(s) you've used to clean this old tech. Thanks! Kam Edited October 15, 2013 by Kamshaft
goldenegg #2 Posted October 15, 2013 All you need is the D5. I keep large and mini cans around for various projects.

goldenegg #6 Posted October 16, 2013 I just want to add a couple things. You'll notice that the bottles of Deoxit are a fraction of the size of other contact cleaners. For Deoxit, a little goes a long way. When the instructions say to use a 'short burst', they really do mean short. There's no need to drench your item in it. Your application should go like this: - Short burst of Deoxit - Wait a few minutes - Another short burst of Deoxit - Wipe the connection Another thing to note is that this stuff can stain clothes and other items. I suggest using it over a utility sink and wear latex gloves while doing so.
icemanxp300 #7 Posted October 16, 2013 Buy off ebay or something. Get the big can not that dinky radio shack trial size.
goldenegg #8 Posted October 16, 2013 Their 'big' can is still 1/3 the size of your average contact cleaner. The mini cans are also fantastic to keep around for quick jobs. I highly recommend getting at least one of each.
