SINGLE TOOTH #1 Posted October 16, 2013 Looking for a reasonably priced power supply for a "bullnose" C64 system . I could trade for a Commodore power supply with the square end if needed. The part number is 310200-2. Specs on it are 5vdc 7.5w 9vac 6.7va
SINGLE TOOTH #2 Posted October 17, 2013 Apparently the power supply I have is for a Plus/4. I can trade for a 64 PSU.
carlsson #3 Posted October 18, 2013 I believe I've got a 117V PSU that would work with a C64 if you don't have too many peripherals. I'd gladly give it away if it wasn't for the fact I'm on the other side of the globe and international shipping would be a murder, probably more than what you'll pay for a PSU with shipping from a seller more close to you. However if you want a shipping quote, feel free to reach me.
SINGLE TOOTH #4 Posted October 18, 2013 Thanks for the offer but the shipping would be murder.
+wood_jl #5 Posted October 19, 2013 Watch out for the "ribbed" (most common) design C64 power supplies. The run hot as hell when plugged in, and they go bad and take out the machine. I didn't believe it, and it damaged 2 C64s and a VIC-20. Now I only use aftermarket and/or C128 power supplies with my Commodore computers. Someone else can probably give more/better information on the issue, but you should be aware before you pay big shipping to ship heavy junk that will "take out" your machine.
SINGLE TOOTH #6 Posted October 20, 2013 I found I had another 128 PSU so I'm going to hack the cable and put a male DIN7 connector on. Seems like the safer bet. I never knew about the C64 PSU issue.
