Where would Coleco be if the crash didn't happen?

I believe, that if Coleco still existed, it would be the same type of company it was in the 1980's, chasing the next fad. They probably would have exited the video game business because the fad was over in 1984. If they were still around today, they would probably be making TV's, pool toys, or the latest toy fad like beanie babies, or some type of doll.

I would compare them to the likes of Mattel and Parker Brothers. They chased a fad, capitalized on it, and then moved on to the next thing.

Coleco just happend to chase the video game fad, and was very sucessful with their attempt to cash in. Just my opinion, but I do not think they had the proper management or intestinal fortitude to be the next generation leader in video games.

I know, the CV wasn't the only product in Coleco's lineup, but at this time, it was the Coleco product that helped turn their fortunes around.

They did have some other non-electronic toys that sold fairly well...

What was that one line that sold OK... Some people might have heard of it..

Oh yeah, Cabbage Patch Kids!!!

:-)

(I don't understand it, but those things were huge.. )
