bbking67
I am kind of drooling over the Mist project available at Lotharek... very interesting stuff. http://lotharek.pl/product.php?pid=96 If the Mist can recreate the ST/Amiga, could it be used to create an "uber-XL" machine? Does anyone know if this is feasible? Is anyone working on it? I would buy one in a heartbeat if it had decent compatibility. /bbking67 Edited October 18, 2013 by bbking67
foft
I'll be releasing source from my FPGA impl in the next month, so you are free to port to Mist. See the 'Potential New Hardware' thread. Boards: DE1 - available Sockit - I'll port to this - my board is being shipped Replay - I'll port to this. MikeJ said he'd send me one 'next week' a while back, though gather he got caught up with a trip to China... Mist - Wasn't planning on it - but if someone wants to donate me a board... That is very generous of you! I'm sure the Atari community will benefit from this for some time. Edited October 18, 2013 by JamesD

jhusak
Wow. I wanted to talk to lotharek about support you on SillyVenture 2013, but I didn't (shame)... I really keep thumbs up all the time to (u)se(e) Atari 8-bit platform running on mist. I have noticed that mist board firmware prepares to this... maybe too wide meaning ("8-bit mode"), but it's almost there... There is a ttl-serial header inside, maybe SIO could be put out of the case to connect REAL floppy drive ... Bryan
Man, that's incredible. I expected someone to get some games up and running, but not a demo-compatible core.
foft
ilusia test :-) ... waits for Lotharek to call the MIST 'Atari XL clone' on his website Edited March 5, 2014 by foft
lotharek
hahhahaha... i was thinking about XL/XE clone my ideas to make a perfect solution: - 1088 ram is a must - covox - dual pokey - switchable OS rom 16kb - cart rom emulation - vbxe.... my dream came true ! i`m so happy
foft
1088 ram - trivial covox - trivial dual pokey - already present switchable os rom - already present (but should be able to have a folder with n roms...) cart rom emulation - planned vbxe - fine by me, but ask VBXE devs - it's already hdl I think, so doesn't make sense to reimplement...

Bryan
Plese, explain ?What I think he means is that VBXE is already an HDL design, so it should be easy to add without re-writing it.

kenjennings
So, if I buy one, is it committed to be an Atari 8-bit once the chip is programmed? Or can it be switched back and forth with the Amiga "image"?
fedepede04
you can switch between them, as you please the chip is only programmed as long as it have power, so it have to load which system you want to play with. every time it start up.
