Lynx II Cartridge slot problem. Help?

Recommended Posts

I picked up a Lynx II, but it has a failing cart slot. Seems to be worn out. Any cartridge other than blue thunder, either leads to an Insert Cart error or it won't turn on. If i torque the cart to make better contact, it works.

Any recommendations?

I'd try cleaning the slot. Take a piece of paper, cut it to be the width of a cart. Then fold it a few times...until it fits snugly in the cart slot. Then dip the folded edge in alcohol and insert/remove it a few times...Do this several times with different sheets of paper until you do this and they come back completely clean.

Also clean your carts. Gently rub the contacts with a pencil eraser. Then wipe them with a q-tip dipped in alcohol.

welll.. thanks for the suggestions. the carts and slot are clean, but problem persists. what i have to do at the moment is insert the cartridge, then wedge something in between the two for everything to make proper contact. not ideal.

I guess you could have a dry solder joint where the cartridge slot joins the main circuit board - you could check if any need resoldering? The only other alternative is that the pins have become bent out of position and need 'helping' back with a needle or something.
