If my records and Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari_Jaguar#cite_note-Jaguar_NA_RD-1) are correct there’s now less than a month until the JAGUAR’s 20th Launch (or better Retail) Anniversary on November 23rd. It looks like the XBOX ONE goes retail the same day (well, almost, November 22nd) exactly 20 years later (http://majornelson.com/2013/09/04/xbox-one-to-launch-on-november-22-2013-in-13-markets/). What a coincidence. ;-)

For quite some time I combine my hobbies Retro Computing&Gaming and Photography Still&Motion to produce High Quality Videos to be published on my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/QLvsJaguar. I will produce a “Jag-is-20birthday celebration video similar (hopefully even better) to the one I did it for the Speccy at its 30th anniversary, see Sinclair ZX Spectrum 1982 - 30th Birthday Anniversary - The Movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kh4hkIyjdNE (>7500 views, 90 likes, 42 comments. This is not viral but a decent result for such a niche topic).

For a few days now, a first very short (18 seconds) Teaser video is public, see ATARI JAGUAR 1993 - 20th Retail Anniversary 2013 - Teaser No. 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geoXsPlBE7U.

Stay tuned…

Cheers, Urs

Had a long weekend (Friday was holiday) and plenty of time for my hobbies. Visited the HR Giger (Academy award winner for Alien) museum with my wife, went angling with my son and explored my Jaguar collection on my own. Shot some videos, two of it made it public on my main YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/QLvsJaguar. Enjoy.

If that (Jag is 20) doesn't make you feel old, what does? I don't even want to think about how old the various Atari computers are, if the Jag is 20!

What's funny is that both the Xbox One and PS4 use the AMD "Jaguar" architecture. :D

Both the PS4 and the Xbox One's CPUs use the exact same number of computing cores and the exact same AMD "Jaguar" architecture.

Wow I can't believe it's 20 years old, I got mine as a birthday present from my dad back in 1997 for my 14th birthday. The system was dying out but I still held hope that Atari could rebound. I bought as many games as I could and even had that ill-fated article with Sam Tramiel, I think it was Next Generation? But yea I was a hardcore fan, I would even call Atari headquarters when the rumors of their demise started circulating. I should've never sold my Jag back in the early 2000s, since it gave me some fond memories. Nice to see it still has a community of fans.

The Jag-is-20 demo as used and shown in “Jag is 20 - The Movie (ATARI JAGUAR

20th anniversary)” can now be downloaded for use on your Jag. See updated video

description for download link.

I would like to share some comments of JAGUAR VIPs:

John Skruch (ATARI): “Good luck with your project.”

Tom Gillen (ATARI): “The videos that you have done are spectacular! I love them, and really respect that you have and are putting so much time and effort into this!”

Martin Hooley (Imagitec): “Awesome mate. Brings back some real memories. I really enjoyed working with Atari. Cannot believe this is TWENTY YEARS AGO!”

John Mathieson (Flare, ATARI): “Looks like you guys had fun.”

With best wishes for the Festive Season. Cheers,
Urs
