amiman99
Here is an example what can happen when you ship CDROM with out it's protective case. Got this game on Ebay, looking forward to play it. When I saw the envelope and how thin it was, alarm bells were ringing in my head "I hope it's not broken". Behold, I opened the envelope, and the game is broken, $%&@$!!! I can't believe it! bjk7382
Kind of ironic that AOL shipped cds nobody wanted for years with little to no protection and they all got there. And the one that you want gets broke...

mkiker2089
The post office handles envelopes differently now. Envelopes go through a machine that rolls them and doesn't harm paper but will destroy discs. If they had used a cardboard mailer the disc wouldn't have gone through that machine because the stiffness would have put it in the "package" line. Phil found that out with his label selling. I seem to recall Edward mentioning this also with his Vectrex overlays hence his retirement. You can't guarantee they won't try to "roll" the package and while labels come out fine his plastic overlays were destroyed.

I was thinking to myself that a disc would have to be almost bent in half to do that.
Rockin' Kat
Happened when I went out looking for the Mac version of Sam and Max hit the road. 'cept mine was a bit more special.... seller took the disc, put it in a paper sleeve, placed it in a thin jewel case which was then rubber banded together cuz it's not like disc was actually inserted properly in the case since it was still in a paper sleeve. and put that in a bubble mailer. WTF? Why not just take the stupid disc out of the paper sleeve, plug it into the jewel case proper and so the case clips shut? So the disc came with a nice crack. Bah. If it's not a cartridge and I go out of my way to buy a game on eBay I tend to ask about packing before I pay.
amiman99
I was so looking forward to play this, and I got it at a VERY good price, I'm not sure when it will come up at that price again. There were many instances that the case broke in transit, but I never complained about it. The case did it's job and protected the game disk. I just replaced it with a new CD case and end of story. BTW, I got refund, but too bad I can't get it at that price any more.
