+Gemintronic #1 Posted November 3, 2013 So, I enjoy me some yard sales, second-hand stores and flea markets. I see neglected INTV carts everywhere but just don't know what to pick up. I expect things like the "Spiker" are totally gone from the wild. What ARE some carts and parts to watch for?

Ignorama #3 Posted November 3, 2013 If the price is reasonable every Intellivision cart should be rescued from a flea market or something like that
+Gemintronic #4 Posted November 3, 2013 If the price is reasonable every Intellivision cart should be rescued from a flea market or something like that Do you have flea markets in Germany? If so, do you go?
Ignorama #5 Posted November 3, 2013 Yes we have flea markets here and yes, I sometimes go to them, but not too often. But finding Intellivision related stuff is nearly impossible, the main market was the american market. Many titles were not even released here, like the INTV Corp games. I sometimes find some SNES games there, but they are often cart only and more often much too expensive (more expensive than Ebay). My "Intellivision Flea Market" is Ebay, I made some awesome bargains there
mr_intv #6 Posted November 3, 2013 I have quite often rescued intellivision games from flea markets if and when I see them. Probably the best find in the wild for me was a CIB Tower Of Doom
JasonlikesINTV #7 Posted November 3, 2013 I check flea markets, thrift stores, game stores, consignment stores, garage sales, pawn shops almost every week or two. I rarely find anything older than PS1. Sometimes Atari commons. Best Intellivision find was probably 4 CIB commons from a consignment shop....paid $10 to rescue them. I was just excited to find INTV games. Oh, I also picked up a loose mint Intellivision 2 with Space Spartans for $20 (Craigslist). My best gaming pick in general was Atari 2600. Got a mint loose console, dust cover, storage case, and around 30 mint CIB commons for $20 on Craigslist. Two older ladies owned them from back in the day. They stored all the empty boxes safely and dust free. Thanks ladies!
scalpel #8 Posted November 3, 2013 Which difference between flea market and garage sells ?
Steve Jones #9 Posted November 3, 2013 Garage sale is usually one person or family selling a bunch of their old stuff at their home, one day only Flea markets have lots of vendors, are open every day or every weekend, people selling as a business. Intymike #10 Posted November 3, 2013 I didn't see any Intellivision stuff on flea markets since the 90s. It starts normally with the Nintendo era. Earlier stuff is mostly Atari VCS.
+Gemintronic #11 Posted November 4, 2013 I did see a jetsons loose this last flea market run. Probably never see Tower Of Doom but I'll keep my eye out now
mr_intv #12 Posted November 4, 2013 There is a huge flea market in Edmonton that almost always has intellivision games. Most of the retro gamestores also have them, I found my system changer CIB for $20 in one of them.
JasonlikesINTV #13 Posted November 4, 2013 To pseudo answer the orig post......There are many pseudo rare carts, but it's all relative. Then there's games with reasonable carts, but pricey CIB. Games that are really fun to play (not just collectible) tend to hold closer value to CIB, but of course there are exceptions. An easy way to think of value is to consider the most valuable/rare games by each group/manufacturer/era. Imagic, for instance....you have Fathom at the top. Easily a $20-30+ cart; $85-150 CIB. White Water,Truckin', Tropical Trouble, Dracula...maybe $10 carts, but $30-60 CIB. Imagic boxes didn't hold up well, so box condition adds a lot of value. The rest aren't really valuable unless you need them. Maybe Ice Trek, Safecracker, Swords & Serpents if cheap. Activision: Worm Whomper is king (excluding Robot Rubble and League of Light). $20-30 loose cart; $110-150 CIB River Raid = $15 cart; $85 CIB Beamrider/Dreadnaught Factor = $10 cart; $15-30 CIB Happy Trails = $8 cart; $10-20 CIB Sealed Activision games are very collectible, especially the very rare River Raid & Worm Whomper. Happy Trails is next rarest, then Dreadnaught Factor, then Stampede. I don't think Beamrider and Pitfall ever came in sealed versions. Coleco: Turbo = $15-25 cart; $50-120+ CIB (broad range because the boxes are usually terrible) DK Jr/Zaxxon = $10-20 cart; $15-50 CIB (same issue with varying box condition) Ladybug = $5-10 cart; $15-30 CIB Parker Bros: Tutankham > Super Cobra >>> Popeye > Q-bert > Empire Strikes Back > Frogger. I'd pick up anything above Frogger for the right price. Definitely Tut, SC, and Popeye. Bonus points for foreign versions. Loose Tut and SC carts = $50+ each. Atarisoft: Defender > Pac-man > Centipede. Pick up Defender, maybe Pac-man if price is right. Box condition makes a big difference in price. ECS: Super Series Baseball >>> WSMLB/Jetsons/Melody Blaster > Scooby Doo > Mr Basic/Mind Strike. Loose carts don't fetch $ like CIB for these. Jetsons/WSMLB/Melody Blaster carts = $20-50 loose. Sears (only valuable CIB): Backgammon = $30-50+ Checkers = $30-50+ Roulette/Snafu/Frog Bog/Soccer = $10-30 each Mattel (orig networks): Red Space Armada box, USCF Chess, Checkers, Shark Shark, Math Fun, Solar Sailor, AD&Ds are on the pricier side CIB, but the carts aren't really profitable. As far as loose cart prices go, Shark Shark, AD&D, and Tron would prob fetch the most $$. Only other consideration is the Original 10 games that came out with full color manuals and the older heavy/shielded carts are somewhat collectible....mainly the manuals, but I strived for very specific boxes, carts, manuals, and overlays for mine Mattel (1983 releases): http://www.intvfunhouse.com/mattel/nonetwork.php Most of these are worth at least $10 CIB in good condition. Priciest loose carts (~$4-8 ) are Bump n Jump, Koolaid Man, Pinball, MotU, AD&D TofT INTV: http://www.intvfunhouse.com/intvcorp/ Most of these are worth picking up - even the cheaper Chip Shot, SP Football, WC Baseball (these three are the cheapest of the bunch, but still $10-15 CIB) Intellivision Inc: http://www.intvfunhouse.com/intellivisioninc/ These are mostly white labeled commons (don't confuse with the much rarer white labeled INTV games). A general rule of thumb is that if a game is normally valuable, then its Intellivision Inc variant will also be rare/valuable, if not rarer and pricier. These games are actually a much lower quality than their original counterparts, but due to the scarcity of some of them, they are sought out by variant collectors (like myself....I'm missing like 3 of these). Their value is primarily as CIB, not carts. Here are the ones to look out for: $uper $eries Big League Baseball, Backgammon, Roulette, MotU, Mr Basic, Math Fun, Chess, Snafu, Sea Battle, Hockey, Pinball Sea Battle, Backgammon, Snafu, Hockey, and Roulette are strangely valuable Intellivision Inc variants...strange because their original Mattel gatefold counterparts are quite common and affordable. Backgammon is so rare, that I only know of 2 collectors that have one. One has a pretty beat up copy http://www.intvfunhouse.com/intellivisioninc/box/abpa-100.jpg and the other can't seem to find his *cough* Cmart *cough* Hopefully this helps anyone hunting for rare Intellivision games in the wild

wolfy62 #17 Posted November 5, 2013 Great job Jason! The only thing I can add to his awesome summation of game prices, is obviously they will cost more in mint condition and/or shrinkwrapped. Otherwise, you should be able to find the games at the rarity level and prices listed!
voltron #18 Posted November 5, 2013 Garage sales can be good. I went to one once and it like tv shows, there are professional garage sale buyers. the one time i went i got some silverware for 20, silver value was 2000. i even told the guy selling it, but i dont think he believed me so i got it. but my friends goes to garage sales all the times, its become a business for him. He has found me intv games to. I think he found a broken intv 2 once that he gave me and i gave to pimp who save the intv2 life

The Intellivision Inc version doesn't say Mattel on it. It looks like this: http://www.intvfunho...ox/abpa-100.jpg
