Robot2600
This is distinctly different than asking for your favorite game. My favorite games, for example art Pitfall! and Adventure, however I can only handle maybe an hour of each in a single setting. In this topic we discuss the games that can obsess you for an evening, weekend, or even month. The holy trinity for me is Asteroids, Missile Command, and Space Invaders. They just never get old. Mxyzptlk
Adventure of course, and Dragonstomper.
Keatah
Missile Command, it happens to be my favorite and one that I can play till I either have to take a shit or go to bed. Tac/Scan and Gyruss, two other all-time-favorites I can play till the 2nd coming of christ. Non-favorites I can go 5 hours or more would be Atari 800 Defender. Sorry I just realized this was for the 2600. Let's see, Enduro, Slot Racers, Casino, Video Chess and Video Pinball. One thing about Gyruss, in any form, I can complete the game with one ship. It's rather an easy game and, to me, seems like an experimental showcase for music rather than a quarter sucker.

Sir Guntz
Probably Dig Dug for now, it's one of the only 2600 games I'm consistently good at that very engaging. I'm actually kinda terrible at most of them, but I love playing them all anyway. Midnight Magic is an excellent game too, but my pinball skills are rusty. adamchevy
Boulder Dash 2600, just got my copy from Andrew last week and it has been holding my attention. I also purchased hero for the 2600 and it has been fun.

+save2600
Used to be able to play Combat for hours with my brother, but that was a few decades ago. These days, can't say *any* of my gaming sessions, going through multiple games, even lasts an hour anymore. But some that still take up a lot of time include: Midnight Magic Centipede/Millipede Space Rocks Nukey's Hack 'Em Strat-o-gems Chetiry Ms. Pac-Man Tapper Edited November 3, 2013 by save2600
Dragon Princess Yushira
Kaboom is my jam. Other's I can play for hours at a time are Asteroids, Centipede, Assault, and Space Invaders.
+Gemintronic
I think me and Sprybug have the "honor" of testing our own games for hours. It's not work but it's not exactly play either Especially when you find an unexpected bug @Dragon Princess Yushira Try Stranglehand if you like Kaboom! http://atariage.com/forums/topic/217106-stranglehand-done/

+cvga
I wish I had hours to play but if I did Beamrider, Enduro and Kaboom could easily keep me occupied.
Sprybug
Super Breakout. Berzerk! Wait a second… I meant Berzerk* Voice Enhanced. Super Breakout is solid. I almost forgot about it. I can't play Berzerk anymore. I find it too easy and it repeats too often. I get bored with it after about 5 minutes.
+Atari_Warlord
In the old days I would play Asteroids for hours and invent games to make it more fun, like who can stay alive the longest without firing a shot or how long can you last with the throttle stuck on max. The other game I still love to play for hours is Demon Attack, the rythmn is very soothing to me.
+Gemintronic
I don't get it. Question was "games you could play for hours?". Yep. I make games. I end up playing them for hours. Many more then some retail games I played as a kid. How you think I whipped through the first level of Dead of Knight so quickly
kb9snl
I tend to play these more than an hour, usually trying to beat my high scores: Midnight Magic Kaboom Alien Space Invaders
Thomas Jentzsch
I played the hell out of my 3 (Asteroids, Starmaster, Cosmic Ark) games back then. In modern times I suppose Lady Bug was the one I have played most (beside my own games during development). JadeETC
I could sit with any IMagic game for days if I could.
bjk7382
Thrust. Every time I get my atari out, this is the game I end up playing. There are still levels on this game I cannot master. Each game is usually about a half hour. That and Subterranea, great game. Edited November 9, 2013 by bjk7382
