Hello, new user here. Snatched this guy up today for just $10. It's missing the "Solid State Software" badge, and sometimes the Ctrl key gets stuck for a fraction of a second, but otherwise it works great and for the price I couldn't have asked for much better.

All I have is the computer, cassette cable, and rf modulator. Looking to get a controller and a few cartridge games, but any other recommended essential additions are appreciated.

The RF modulator is extremely flaky and loses connection if I so much as poke it. Any high quality composite cables out there? I'd hate to buy one that's wired incorrectly and pump 12v into my CRT.

Interesting to see the slot for the "volume control" slider abandoned in the final U.S. version of the console.

hmm, maybe this "Solid State Software" badge was for hiding the slot ? ?

(and is just missing here ?)

If so, the "badged" consoles should be the older versions, and they let the slot go some later ?

I always figured it was just use of leftover inventory ;)

ah OK, I never thought about this badges. So I made a list of my consoles now (where from I have the serial no.),

sorted by production date. It´s complicated ? ?

What does the 39 mean?

39th week of 1981, LTA says it was manufactured in Lubbock, TX.

On the Solid State Software badges, they were to hide the slider slot for the speaker at the back of the cartridge slot. These were only used for their intended purpose (with the volume adjustment slider) on some of the Dimension 4 prototypes (I have one of these) and early 99/4 machines intended for the European market (built in late 1979 and early 1980). I have one of those consoles as well. The entire top shell did not change for a long time, I suspect until the original injection molds wore out, as that would have been the least expensive solution at the time. At some point along the way, they did eliminate the cutout in the top of the case for the IR Joystick attachment (every 99/4 case I have ever seen still has it, though it is hidden by the top aluminum piece). Later replacement molds during the life of the 99/4A then eliminated the slider slot.

I'm new here, and here is mine working!

I don't have much yet, but I was able to load Ti-Trek using audacity with the WAV that someone shared in some other thread, and the pins connections for the DB9 to be able to use the casette port (also from some other thread, thanks to all of you, this community is amazing).

Your systems look awesome!

New house in the Reno NV area - got the TI set up.  It's a fairly modest system but gets used every day (running a database).  F18A, firehose, RS-232 w/HDX mod, SID music card, TI 32K, TI disk controller w/80 track DSSD mod (80/80/40).  Drives are 2 Lotharek SD card diskette emulators (max 1440) and 1 TI External disk drive enclosure with an IBM (Shugart) drive (max 720).  Soon to add a TIPI on PEB (Thanks Greg).  Boots into the XB 2.7 Suite cart by Tony Knerr (RIP).  Get's the job done!

Been collecting parts for a while.  Got system up and running today.  TI-99/4a,  NOS Corcomp 9900, single powered 5 1/4 floppy, every single Infocom text adventure as XB Autoload (I never played these back in the day, but loved Scott Adams), RCA to HDMI converter going to 75” TV.  Finalgrom for everything else.

Amazing setup to start.

My problem looking at everyone elses photos like yours or @aftyde before, is that I look at them and I'm automatically saying "Oh no... Now I want that too!!!!"

Never used, but I bought an Atari 800 at good will for $25 dollars. I think it's the prettiest machine ever and keyboard is very high quality.

Assume you mean the 800XL then... actually I really liked that machine. One of my best friends in high school had one. I blew it up.

I did replace it, it just took me 25 years.

Nope...

*** The original as shown. ***

                      >>> I think they cheapened the keyboard with the XL line. I love the way you got two cartridge slots and a mini pbox <<<

As shown where?? You didn't post any pics. ;)

It looks like I was thinking of the 400 and its membane keyboard.

Here I am with my system. I came across the machine alone in a thrift store. No cables and power supply, only a Connect four cartridge.

With the help of ti99iuc I have been able to give it a new life: RGB scart converter, original power supply, joystick adapter cable, FinalGrom, Speech synthetizer and 32K memory expansion.

That's my retrogaming tv on my retrogaming corner of the house. I recolored it with spray paint to give it a more playful look.

Ciao a tutti,
