fred #1 Posted November 20, 2013 I just bought a Bump'n'Jump Deco cocktail table untested. I figured that it was worth the gamble because it was only $10. Of course its not working. It had two popped fuses. I replaced them, turned the switch and the monitor sounded like it was turning on, then it died. The fuses popped again, and there was a funny smell. I know it is probably a short. I checked most of the wires, connections, and circuit boards and everything looks ok. Any suggestions? I can probably sell it on Craigslist and get the $10 I paid for it plus the $16 i paid for the locksmith to open it up and make a key for the power switch but it would be nice to have a working cocktail table. Mxyzptlk #2 Posted November 20, 2013 I am not an expert, but I have done many a repair to my cabs. and pins. I would definitely lean toward your power supply. Check the voltage coming out to specific points on your board(s). Go to KLOV to get the schematics and where to check for voltage on the board and how much voltage is good/bad. Or start a new thread on the KLOV boards and get some REALLY good advice, the folks at KLOV helped me get my Baby Pac machine in mint condition for Ground Kontrol. Keatah #3 Posted November 20, 2013 Capacitors are likely to have failed and blown up some semiconductors. You'll need to evaluate the power supply and any analog monitor circuitry. A funny smell doesn't tell us much. Some component let its smoke out from some reason. You need to discover the reason and replace the parts that made it blow up. Tempest #4 Posted November 20, 2013 Did you get any tapes/dongles with it other than Bump n Jump? If you decide to get rid of it I might be interested in them. I have a DECO cab myself: http://www.atariprotos.com/deco/deco.htm
fred #5 Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) Nope, it only came with Bump'n'Jump. I'm selling the game on Craigslist. I figured I'd cut my losses. It was worth a shot. It was sitting in a warehouse for a couple decades at least so I thought there was a good chance it would work. The door to get the tape is locked. The dongle looks good. Otherwise I would take out the tape and dongle before I sold it. Here's the link if you want to check it out. I know the price is high, I figured I might get $100 for it. http://omaha.craigslist.org/vgm/4202498901.html Edited November 20, 2013 by fred
