AVGN Game

Well, I actually have never sold any games before, so I'm not really familiar with how that works. Since making games is something I just enjoy doing, I usually don't get money involved with it. xDD

Also, I was originally intending for this game to be just sort of a gift to James, like from me to him. I never meant for it to be a profit of any kind. If I saw that there were like 50 people that wanted it, then I would consider it, but as it is, I'm just a college guy in school, and the money I spent for these two cartridges was just money from my own pocket from working at a grocery store. LOL! I will make the game downloadable though, so you could all play it. In fact, that reminds me, I'm home now, so I'll go set up the link! ^^

that makes sense. i mean, i dont have any understand of how the whole business works either, but i assume it would be a lot of work, John Donzalli had to stop his business because he had to much going on. in case you dont know him, he was basically the first homebrewer for the vectrex :) also, ignore the people in this thread that are being rude. like the people insulting your game because they saw the beginning one avgn episode and declared they didn't like him or whatever. i think your game looks awesome :)

Guys, listen: James Rolph is an ACTOR, for crying out loud. He's playing a role of an angry, cursing video game player. What's so hard to figure out?...I'm sure Jack Nicholson is a pleasant man, but he curses like a sailor in plenty of movies. Are you now going to make character judgments on him, or worse, question the mentality of those who like his movies?

AVGN has been around for quite some time and you can like or dislike his show, but to question his personal character over the fictitious rantings of a portrayed character?...now THAT'S dumb.

So because he acts he can swear? Now that is pretty dumb (To me it's lacking intelligence). Monty Python never swear, but boy they're funny (Now there's clever). And I bet you anything, they won't swear now that they're reformed.

Yes, too much abusive language nowadays in film and TV and wotnot. Soon you hear in church...Will you take this f...... wife to be your bride? Or in the news...Good morning f...... America. Oh well....my rant for the week. Now where's my f...... Atari game?

In that case I can download the ROM and send it to them myself. I'd still like to know how you feel about that though, it'd be cool if you were okay with it. But with my complaints in the past I'd probably get the cartridge in a bag after Al drove over it with his car.

Yeah, I don't see any problem with that. ^^

Yeah, I had a feeling producing games takes a lot of work. I would absolutely do it, but I'm in college now, kinda looking around for a long-term girlfriend, and I barely have free time.

The other issue I have with selling this game is that, isn't that copyright infringement? I'd be making money off of James' franchise, and I will absolutely NOT disrespect him that way. If there's one thing I don't want, it's to get on his bad side. The other games people have made (besides AVGN Adventures) I believe are free.

well, if you were worried about copyright, you could ask him. but i think you are right, it should be free. i mean, making money off of someone else, kind of cheap now that i think of it. well, if people want to have a cart version, they can just print it themselves! lol

Contact him about it. Maybe jack up the cost by $1 or something and maybe he could sign some of them. Maybe Cinemassacre could give some away as part of a promotion.

That's an interesting idea!

But how would I go about doing it? I would have to not only partner with Cinemassacre, but with AtariAge, to produce the cartridges (I don't have the tools to do it myself XD).

I wonder how something like that would play out.

You guys ever watch classic game room? Not as many jokes but funnier and actually does reviews of games that make sense.

But only todays " toilet entertainment" will get all the hurrah. If he really needs to learn how to swear come to work with me and hear what happens after someone breaks a finger or smashes their head on something(daily) or cuts themselves open or pops their knee out(all seen last month) Its something I hear all too often. Kinda nice to break away and hear someone of some intelligence and integrity.

I guess office types like "pretend hardcore bs"

I cant watch avgn without getting nauseous.

There is just little I find funny with any entertainment nowadays I can easily watch some comedies and hardly break into a smile. There is comedy out there but extremely hard to find. I think is has something to do with values..

south park family guy=Give 6 guys a night of drinking and around 2am could write a whole season of whack off crap stain jokes. Thats what I have experienced..

To the average person this garbage is genius???

The average guy just wants to go to work, drink some beers, beat his wife and kids, have an affair, get some sleep, then start it all over again the next day. The average guy's kids just want to escape or rebel the best way they can by saying 'naughty' words, smoking, drinking alcohol, doing drugs, having sex, beating up other kids, and just generally acting like other people are their personal playthings. For example, the knockout game is funny to these kids. Setting someone on fire is funny to them. Stabbing a homeless guy to death is funny to them. Punching a pregnant lady in the stomach and ripping out her baby is funny to them. Some guy cussing in a video or cartoon characters saying naughty things is tame compared to what some of these kids would do to you right now for laughs if they were in the same room with you. For example, if you had a kitten, they'd hold you down, cut you open from your belly button to your ribs, stuff your kitten inside, sew you back up the best they could, then laugh as the kitten howls and rips apart your internal organs. Your horrific screams would only make them laugh louder.

Well, I'm a pretty big fan of AVGN, and I think he's funny, but I most certainly don't find any of the things you just described funny at all. :P

Actually, I don't even think the AVGN character would stoop to that level. He outright admits what he finds disturbing in some of his episodes, like the game cover of the twin towers getting blown up, the dog getting shmushed into pieces by a car (Action 52), the old witch in the Atari porn games, and he also describes how people found the Texas Chainsaw Massacre game disturbing, and seems to fully empathize with them.

It's pretty apparent to me that there's a line between what can reasonably be considered funny, to what's just plain messed up.

I don't agree with his reviews but I'm not going to say AVGN isn't funny. He is funny. Watch his episode where he advocates relaunching the SwordQuest Challenge. Or him trying to explain the point of the game Bald Dudes in his Jaguar episode.
