candiru #1 Posted March 3, 2003 My old friend, Space Cavern, one of my carts I've had since I was a wee lad, has not been doing so well lately. I know there are those among you who would advise me to go ahead and put it out of its misery *cough-stan-cough* , but I was wondering if there was anything I could do to get it working right again? It starts up fine and plays normally in all respects except that the space man will no longer shoot sideways to fend off those fuzzy C-shaped things. I've tried cleaning the contacts, and made sure it's not just a faulty joystick. Any ideas?

sku_u #3 Posted March 4, 2003 It might be bit rot. If that's the case, it's time to put this one out to pasture.
Big Player #4 Posted March 4, 2003 While your cart might not be dead yet, please remember to plan for the inevitable future. Consider this past AA funeral. http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7070

Zeus #6 Posted March 4, 2003 Does this mean that the end is near? That we are vainly pursuing cartriges that will inevitably die in the next few years? Are Atarians a dying breed? My Adam computer is already dead. I the old 2600's and carts might not live to see the next decade.
Godzilla #7 Posted March 4, 2003 yes you should take them all out and shoot them, just like you do with anything you love when it starts to die. then get a cuttle cart of equivalent so you can still play them.
Clock #8 Posted March 4, 2003 Use cleaning solvent/alcohol liberally (splash it on) and set light to it. Cremation is the best way.
