SNES Issues

Recommended Posts

I have a first series SNES that I went to sell tonight, I have gone though it and everything seemed okay... It played games and everything, I got to the persons house and brought one of my games and it worked perfect, then they wanted to try their games all of them worked except 1. They currently have a working SNES but wanted a second one. When we put the game in their console it worked with no issues, when we put it in mine it would just give a black screen. I cleaned the contacts n the game tried again same thing worked on theirs but not on the one I was selling. All it showed was a black screen. I checked the back of the game to make sure it was a US game which it was. Any ideas what the issue would be? I just drove 20 miles for nothing.

Don't know if this applies to you but I had 2 old style snes's that would play most games but some would either show a black screen or garbled graphics. Researching it I found out some decks with age have problems with the PPU's or it's a capacitor problem. And if you look at the motherboard, there are a lot of caps. Too many to count. And I cleaned the connector for the games and the connector on the motherboard. Even tried a new game connector with no luck. Only other suggestion is check the solder connections on the bottom of the motherboard of the cart connector. I eneded selling both for parts as is. Couldn't find help anywhere or anyone that's fixed one. Sorry, but thought I'd let you know my experience.
