MathUser
I tried using <a data-ipb="nomediaparse" data-cke-saved-href="http://wiibrew.org/wiki/WiiXL%20on%20the%20Wii%20and%20I%20can" href="http://wiibrew.org/wiki/WiiXL%20on%20the%20Wii%20and%20I%20can" t%20get%20any%205200%20games%20going.%20i%20selected%20carts%20and%20tried%20to%20boot%20it%20but%20it%20just%20shows%20the%20atari%20logo%20and%20don't%20progress%20past%20that%20point.%20can%20anyone%20give%20me%20a%20step%20by%20step%20walkthrough%20for%20booting%205200%20games?"="">http://wiibrew.org/wiki/WiiXL on the Wii and I can't get any 5200 games going. I selected carts and tried to boot some but it just shows the atari logo and don't progress past that point. Can anyone give me a step by step walkthrough for booting 5200 games? TheGameCollector
You have to use the Gamecube controller to even work this emulator. The Wiimote and Classic Controller will not boot up any games. After you boot up the game, try pressing A on the Gamecube controller if I remember right. Hope this helps. I don't know why they don't have this particular one able to be mapped to the Wii controllers. salfter
Going by http://wiibrew.org/wiki/WiiXL, a Wiimote should work. I've downloaded the system ROM from here, as well as ROMs for Centipede and Pac-Man. They're all in their correct locations, with 5200.rom alongside the computer ROMs and the game ROMs in the software subdirectory. The game ROMs are also in software/carts, and each is in each directory with .a52, .bin, and .rom extensions, as there's no documentation that indicates which is correct. I can set the emulation type to 5200, but under Cartridge Management (presumably where you would go to select a ROM), neither "Insert Cartridge" nor "Create Cartridge from ROM image" show any of the downloaded game ROMs. If I start the emulator, it'll briefly display an Atari logo (like the 5200 did when it started up), and then it'll bomb out because no cartridge was selectable. Why are the ROM files not showing up? I threw this emulator on so I'd have a decent Pac-Man implementation instead of the execrable 2600 version (I also have Wii2600 installed, and Pitfall! works pretty well with it), but getting it up and running has been more of a hassle than it should be. salfter
Never mind...had the ROM files in apps/wiixl/software, when they should've been in wiixl/software. Once they were moved, they showed up...took two tries to get Centipede working (need to select "two-chip 16K 5200 cartridge," not "one-chip 16K 5200 cartridge"), but it and Pac-Man both worked. That said, the Wiimote is hardly an ideal controller for these games. (It's not so good for Pitfall! in the 2600 emulator, either...seems to be a bit of lag between pressing the fire button and the emulator picking it up.) Maybe the "classic controller" (?) would work better, but I suspect a proper joystick would be best...if there's a way to plug one in. (2600-daptor plugged into the USB port, perhaps?) dualcam
I don't have a Wii to test on, but do have a 5200-daptor - http://home.comcast.net/~tjhafner/5200-daptor.htm If USB HID devices work, this should work as well. Tom
Nerf Herder73
It's really better for playing 8-bit games since it doesn't support 5200 two-button games.
Rex Dart
Anybody know anything about dual stick setup on this emu? Would like to play some Space Dungeon on my Wii.
