delvis
On my Mega 4 ST project I finally had a chance to hook up the EtherNec card to my network. I had the growing pains of playing with STinG and CAB and all of that. In the end it worked and I have internet. Granted I must be careful which sites I go to or it gets too much data and crashes. The older text sites work.
TXG/MNX
Maybe you need to have a kind of proxy server that translates the sites to text maybe WAP .... in the old days... Most sites use HTML5, Flash and such no Atari browser supports that
Dal_1978
HTML5 is being incorporated into Netsurf, so there is hope.
simonsunnyboy
Many sites have mobile versions that are usable with CAB, try m.google.com. Maybe CAB can be faked to send a different user agent and mask as a smartphone to automatically use mobile site versions?
Christos
Many sites have mobile versions that are usable with CAB, try m.google.com. Maybe CAB can be faked to send a different user agent and mask as a smartphone to automatically use mobile site versions? That might be helpful for sites that have a special mobile version, assuming that that version is not more modern than the classic one, but for sites made with responsive design it will be painful. delvis
Tried the mobile Google page. It came back Error 302 Moved. Found some at "Useful Text based Websites". Went on the "thin NPR" site. Edited December 15, 2013 by delvis
Christos
I think highwire might have a better chance of displaying sites. Have you tried that?
delvis
I have down loaded High wire but not tried to install it. Does it require Mint to work or will it run on plain old TOS?
Christos
It's been too long since I tested it under TOS but I believe it should work. Though it will definitely be better on mint.
delvis
Tried to install but requires NDVI or SpeedyGDOS. Downloaded those but have not tried to install.
