+Lathe26 #16 Posted December 30, 2013 My copy of "Christmas Carol" just arrived yesterday. Had a blast playing it. I like to polish in the cut-scenes and sound of Carol being frozen and breaking apart when the snowman gets her.
DZ-Jay #17 Posted December 30, 2013 My copy of "Christmas Carol" just arrived yesterday. Had a blast playing it. I like to polish in the cut-scenes and sound of Carol being frozen and breaking apart when the snowman gets her. Awesome! I'm glad you liked it. The cut-scenes were one of my favourite parts to make. My wife helped design them. Christmas Carol Fun Fact: There's one cut-scene in particular that my wife can take credit for, I call it Snowman's Gambit. It's the one where Carol is hiding in a "fake" snowman costume. She proposed it back when I was still trying to design them as simple animations, and I remember telling her "How the heck am I going to do that? It's much too complex! I would have to animate snow, the snowman looking around, and put them all on the screen at the same time. I can't do it!" And then... I did. To this day she reminds me of the cut-scene that was "impossible to make" that was her idea. http://vimeo.com/40791176 Actually, the one with the Jack-In-The-Box turned out to be the hardest one to make, due to the number of moving objects in it. I came up with some techniques to put more characters on screen, which helped with all the others. After making that one, the others became much easier. Oh! and by the way, just so you know, there's two more days for the high score competition. Don't worry if you don't have much time to get your score very high, just post your progress and join in the friendly chatter at the HSC thread. C'mon, we won't bite. Anyhoo... Merry Christmas! -dZ.
Illtiger1 #18 Posted January 18, 2014 Wow, just Wow! I finally got to play Carol and it's absolutely a work of art. I have a 2 yr old and a new born so I've been patiently waiting for a good opportunity to play it. My best description is it's like a first gen NES game on the Intellivision, which is both classic and amazing. Well done DZ, best Xmas present in a long time.
