Maybe because Michael does not feel comfortable meeting in person whomever is freaky enough to pay tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars for a second hand video game collection.

... and now the "bids" are up to 3/4 of a million dollars.

 

However, these bids smell like scammers:

• Bidders "peeps_10091970" and "catch123" both have no history on GameGavel
• On his own peeps_10091970 appears to have run up the price from $100K to $500K for no good reason
• Every bid by catch123 is followed by peeps_10091970 within 2 seconds or less

Maybe they're not scammers, but these bids smell fishy.

Note: someone pointed out to me later on that there was a reserve price on this. The $100K bids did not reach the reserve. Perhaps this is why peeps_10091970 ran the price up to $500K "for no good reason".
