José Pereira #1 Posted December 30, 2013 Not a new name but indeed a game that was in their list for C64, Amiga,... but never released: http://www.system3.com/promotional-download/puttysquadamiga/ System3 was so well known on the past for not releasing things in time they promised and many never saw 'the daylight', right ...
Mclaneinc #2 Posted December 30, 2013 It wasn't officially released but it did fall out the back door iirc... Quite fun game, best version is the Snes one..
Rybags #3 Posted December 30, 2013 Good of them to do something like that, although it does mention it was done with community support. They were one of the premier outfits of that time, good to see they're still around.
Mclaneinc #4 Posted December 30, 2013 At the shows you could always have a good laugh with them.....I still remember when Dominik Diamond was doing Gamesmaster? at the time but most people though he was an annoying twerp, while at the show he sauntered past the System 3 stand with his PA waving to them and every one like the Queen only to get a huge combined shout of W*n*er (not winner) from the System 3 stand... Good times..
TMR #5 Posted December 30, 2013 Depends who you talk to... quite a few devs have less than nice things to say.
popmilo #6 Posted December 30, 2013 Depends who you talk to... quite a few devs have less than nice things to say. Ughh... Last Ninja, Myth, Tusker, International Karate, Flimbo's Quest, Vendetta, Turbo Charge.... Don't know about devs relationship with them, but this list of games just almost fills up my "best of c64" list, gotta respect that
TMR #7 Posted December 30, 2013 Ughh... Last Ninja, Myth, Tusker, International Karate, Flimbo's Quest, Vendetta, Turbo Charge.... People on at least two of those didn't get paid, in one case at all and in another they basically had to camp out on the System 3 stand at a computer show to force a cheque out of them...
Mclaneinc #8 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) Ack, that's bad, must admit I didn't know the guys apart to have a pint at the bar with them, not good to screw a programmer but it wasn't the first time and sure won't be the last time these days. I'm still owed by Atari User for work....Don't think I'll see it (that bastard Chris) Edited December 30, 2013 by Mclaneinc
ilaskey #9 Posted December 30, 2013 I'm still owed by Atari User for work....Don't think I'll see it (that bastard Chris)Me too. Spent a long weekend at one of the London shows demoing Attack of the Mutant Penguins on the Jaguar. Even had to buy new clothes to match their corporate reqs. The guy that signed me up left soon after and Gleadow wouldn't respond to any calls or emails. By the time I started a formal claim they folded. Lost Dragon #12 Posted December 31, 2013 Ahhh System 3..... Last Ninja coming soon on Atari 130XE said the magazine advert-yeah right (though i've since uncovered more on that story), then the reboot which was to appear on Dreamcast, PS2, PSP (formats seemened to change by the month), again, nothing. They even told a friend of mine that Myth did get a release on the Atari ST, when he was researching his article for RetroGamer magazine, had to 'correct' that snippet to him via pm after reading said article, closest it got was demo on ZERO magazine. (An annoying chap I promise you) Met Bob, he came down to Maplin to buy a Mapping the Atari, apparently he could not find one anywhere and that's how I ended up writing for them... ilaskey #15 Posted January 1, 2014 Nah, not Chris Payne, it was Darryl Still. He was good, I had a lot of dealing with him and Alistair Bodin when I worked for the Atari mags.
oky2000 #16 Posted January 3, 2014 This is the sequel to Silly Putty on the Amiga (or Super Putty on CD32) but there were never any Putty games planned for the C64/8 bit as far as I can tell.
tjlazer #17 Posted January 3, 2014 It isn't 30 years, it's 20. 1994.
José Pereira #18 Posted January 3, 2014 Oops!... I wanted to say 20years later. Now to change its only possible, I thinj, by an AA Adminitrator. But no problem because even with lots of promises and no release together with almost always not in store in the promised date, Sytem3 its one of the few still around and with still there one or two of the old guys then its totally possible it will another Amiga game 30years from now! I hope to still be here and can ressurect this Thread. Or not in 2043 but indeed in 2037 and this time I can create a new one without a wrong date . Outstanding is this dream I just had: Imagine I open a Thread with the Tittle: "System3 (iminent) released Last Ninja 50years later for the Atari 8bit!" P.s.- When it will be I shall write "later" or 'late'? And "(iminent)" means that that with a bit of bad luck no release and, maybe more 50years to have it (founded?) released!... Apart from the first one of course, which was started for the C64 but stalled over morale issues.
Rybags #20 Posted January 3, 2014 An ideal candidate for Ezflash or Atarimax large cart right there. Realistically, it could be ported to Falcon or maybe STe, I kinda doubt it'll surface on anything 8-bit very soon.
