Punisher5.0 #2 Posted March 5, 2003 Myst is on CD. Rayman, Doom, AvsP are all on cartridges. There were a couple of games made for both mediums. Iron Soldier 2 and Hoverstrike are the only two I know of. The CD version of IS2 has FMV and nicer music than the cartridge format but longer load times. It's a direct port, and in my mind the weakest Jag CD title. If you have to get the CD add-on, get it for Battlemorph.
dirtboy69 #5 Posted March 5, 2003 what kinda load times are there for the cd add on is it as bad as say the neo-geo cd or sega cd i have both of those and load times are horrible then again i think the loads on my ps one are bad too
Punisher5.0 #6 Posted March 5, 2003 what kinda load times are there for the cd add on is it as bad as say the neo-geo cd or sega cd i have both of those and load times are horrible then again i think the loads on my ps one are bad too Most of the games have pretty quick load times. In the future the Jaguar CD is going to be a necessity. Thanks to ScatoLOGIC and Songbird we can play CD games that were never released and homebrews. So, if you ever come across one and have the money I highly recommend that you get it.
t.skid #7 Posted March 5, 2003 Sure, save some funds and buy JagCD, it's a great add, and you will enjoy some good CD games

I do believe that HoverStrike is cartridge only, and the sequal, HS: Unconquered Lands is CD only, afaik Iron Soldier 2 is the only game released on both CD and Cartridge. jaysmith2000 #9 Posted March 6, 2003 Battlemorph (one of the better Jag CD games) is actually a sequel to Cybermorph (cartridge game). I agree with everyone else, put the money out for the Jaguar CD, you won't regret it. The VLM (Virtual Light Machine) alone is worth the price! IMHO Jason

Yea, your right. I forgot that Unconquered Lands was a sequel to the original. At least someone was paying attention .
dirtboy69 #11 Posted March 6, 2003 what kinda cash does the cd add on cost
someguy #12 Posted March 6, 2003 The JagCD add-on can usually be found on EBay for $150-$200. I've thought of buying one, but IMHO there just aren't enough good CD games to justify spending that kind of coin.
dirtboy69 #13 Posted March 7, 2003 that's expensive i paid 150 us for my neo geo cd and it came with five games and two paddles and with alot more games to buy for it
t.skid #14 Posted March 7, 2003 Take a look on eBay and wait for the good deal: sometimes you could find it at a fair price (50/80 bucks).
+davidcalgary29 #15 Posted March 8, 2003 ...or just contact Battery MegaSource directly. A few people here have bought CD units from them, and they've all arrived in working (or quickly fixable) conditions.

Yea, your right. I forgot that Unconquered Lands was a sequel to the original. At least someone was paying attention . A friend of mine bought and played HovrStrike, and when he got his CD unit and unconquered lands he said that the missions were the same, but with more textures and better music? Only had a cursory glance so perhaps more missions later on?
