Recommended Posts

Only one game this week:

2600:

SMURF - Rescue in Gargamel's Castle: 16 minutes

Played the game to fiddle around with the difficulty settings and test which one would be most suited for the TOURNAMENT I have started:

http://atariage.com/forums/topic/232263-between-season-2600-tournament/

There's a real physical (albeit not very valuable) prize/trophy to win. Everyone feel free to join!

Channel F:

Tetris - 2 min.

Creativision:

Tennis - 11 min.

RCA Studio II:

Blackjack - 4 min.

Bowling - 38 min.

The choice of systems for this week did not lie in newly acquired games, but two newly acquired 14" TV's, so the goal was to bring out some of the older consoles with RF out, the older the better as even CRT's tend to have issues with the earliest generation video games. To make matters worse, I dropped one of the two TV's into the floor but apart from cracks in the plastic and the sound of something loose inside, it appears to still be fully working... One of the two TV's, a early 90's Philips even had remarkably clear picture when connected to my Conic M1200 (Studio II clone in colour), something I rarely see on "newer" CRT screens.

Here are my times for this past week (November 24th through 30st)...

sorry, I didn't play any games this week. There's still much to do at work which let me come home a bit later than normal at times, also I had another eye examination at the General Hospital, and much time was taken up by lengthy conversations per e-mail with a new customer for my Karaoke CD+G authoring software ClearSwipe. Hence no time (and really no desire either) for gaming.

Had alot of extra time due to Thanksgiving so got alot of gaming in :)

Win 95/98 -

Battleship Surface Thunder - 165min

This game has 2 modes:

•Regular Battleship in 3D - 15min

This mode is pretty cool as it has local 2player for me and the old lady to battle each other :D

•Arcade Story Mode - 150min

Story mode is a fairly simple arcadey ship combat game that has nothing to do with the original battleship game except it has warships in it lol, missions become repetitive but it's a fun enough game for the $0.50 it cost me :)

Diablo II - 795min

Finally reacquired a copy of Diablo 2 :) now to actually beat it :P (i think i made it to the last act back in the day iirc)

Harbinger - 20min

Òdi•um (Gorky 17 in Europe) - 85min

Another game I had a demo of back in the day :)

Sega Genesis -

Alien 3 - 5min

Chakan - 10min

Dragons Fury - 20min

Duke Nukem 3D - 15min

Fatal Labyrinth - 100min

It Came From The Desert - 15min

Pacmania - 15min

Rock n Roll Racing - 30min

Sonic 3D Blast - 10min

Sonic The Hedgehog - 5min

Sonic & Knuckles - 5min

Sonic Spinball - 15min

Toejam & Earl - 30min

Got a new Atgames Genesis handheld, been playing around with it :) nvr heard of Fatal Labyrinth before but as you can see it has the most time on genesis this week for me, as its one of my new favorites :)

Intellivision -

Astrosmash - 15min

B17 Bomber - 2min

Sub Hunt - 5min

Got a new Intellivision Flashback, nvr had a Intv before but astrosmash is pretty cool :)

TI-99 -

Killer Caterpillar - 5min

Superfly - 20min

Got some more Gazoo multicarts :) and modded my TI and P-Box with nice bright blue LEDs. Also tinkered with my Lotherek SD card floppy emulator and figured out how to get it to emulate 2 floppy drives at once :D

My times for the week:

Intellivision:

D2K Arcade - 8 min.

Magic Carousel - 7 min.
Space C*** - 6 min.

Genesis:

Moving Adventure Psy-O-Blade - 216 min.
Rampart - 230 min.
Shove It: The Warehouse Game! - 15 min.
Game Boy:
Spot: The Cool Adventure - 39 min.
My wife and I beat Psy-O-Blade using the latest beta of the English translation patch. Thoughts on that, as well as my two recent Game Boy victories, here.
Otherwise, I'm still Charlie Brown, and Rampart is still Lucy with the football. On one of my attempts I got so close at the end...

My times for the week:

NES:
Destination Earthstar - 152 min.
Genesis:
The Humans - 183 min.
3DO:
Defcon 5 - 30 min.
Dreamcast:
Virtua Tennis - 72 min.
Beat a half-dozen more levels in tedious puzzler The Humans; got befuddled by an overcomplicated 3DO FPS; made two full attempts on old foe Destination Earthstar, getting to Levels 5 and 7 (of eight) respectively; and won some matches in the wildly overrated Virtua Tennis, including exhibition matches on all three difficulties and the five-match arcade mode on Easy and Normal.

PlayStation:

Gunners Heaven - 20 min. (Japanese Version)

Metal Slug: Super Vehicle-001 - 30 min. (Japanese Version)

Real Robots Final Attack - 10 min. (Japanese Version)

Got my Japanese PS2 up and running so I tested out some PS1 games on it. Don't own any Japanese PS2 games yet so I'm not even sure if works fully yet.

Sorry, but I have to report another week without gaming (December 1st through 7th). I've got much to do at my workplace, and I've also been swamped with things to do in my spare time, so somehow seriousness has set in, and unimportant things like gaming fall by the wayside. The closest thing to gaming I did was trying to convert "Tom's diner" by Suzanne Vega to LPC for play on the TI-99 and watching a video of the same song performed by a C-64, as well as playing around with the TI-99 sound list ripper a bit, trying to extract the sound lists from Q*Bert, but unable to find them.
