+wavemotion
Probably a simple question, but do most of the Atari Keybaord games require use of 2 keypads for 2P games? More specifically, what about CodeBreaker and Concentration? My wife loves those sorts of games and so I've been thinking about picking one or both up (especially Concentration) and don't want to get more controllers than I actually need! Also, anyone got a cheap 2600 keypad they want to get rid of?! Thanks much in advance!
badbrad
Do you want the keyboard controllers or the star raiders keypad? I have either, I would send you for the cost of shipping.
Video
I've read that the Keypad, Keyboard, and Kid Controllers are all enternally the same controller. I got a question. How does the Atari use all the buttons on them? I 've got Basic programming, and it shows all keys being used in the overlay? But I've never seen anything that shows the pinout for a key controller. Maybe I'll just take one apart and see how it works.
Paul Slocum
All three types of keyboards are compatible. I prefer the video touch pads. You have to scan each row of the keyboard to read it. There's a schematic in the archives: http://www.atariage.com/2600/archives/sche...tics/index.html I've heard that the Synthcart is the best Atari keyboard program. -Paul
Rob Mitchell
but do most of the Atari Keybaord games require use of 2 keypads for 2P games? More specifically, what about CodeBreaker and Concentration? You want to get two of the Keyboard controllers because they have the numbers on them for when you play 2p Codebreaker and Concentration. I don't know about 2p Brain Games .. but you still want the numbers displayed on the controller for that game too. All Keyboard games are cool! The Video Keypad and the Kids Controller do not have the numbers printed on them. Now why didn't the Math Cart use the Keyboard Controller? Tsk Tsk. (Yes I know that the Math Cart came out in 1977 and the Keyboard Controller came out in 1978 .. but still!) (BTW:2600 Keyboard controller can be made to work with the 5200!) Retro Rogue
(BTW:2600 Keyboard controller can be made to work with the 5200!) Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA I would hope so, considering they were used in the prototype of the 5200 controllers.
Xot
The Video Keypad and the Kids Controller do not have the numbers printed on them. You sure about that? http://www.atariage.com/controller_page.ht...&ControllerID=
Rob Mitchell
I would hope so, considering they were used in the prototype of the 5200 controllers. I was presuming this when I worked out the wiring to connect the 2600 Keyboard Controller to the 5200. Especially since the 5200 overlays do have the same functional dimensions although not tall enough. Could you provide some more detail? And yes the Kids Controller does have the numbers (thanks).. so perfectly suited to play Mastermind .. err .. I mean Codebreaker.
