Store Loose Vectrex Games

Just a quick question.

How do you store you're loose vectrex game cartridges? I mean, for the atari 2600 you had those nice vhs style boxes to store you loose cartridges. But are there any aftermarket boxes for the vectrex? Preferable with space to store the overlay.

I now use a binder with sleeves to store the overlays, but it's not ideal.

The "ideal" way to store games is in their original box, with one of those clear box protectors.

I use an old 8-track case. Vec carts are much smaller of course, but they fit just fine and that leaves plenty of space left over for overlays, manuals, etc.

I've been working on custom inserts for VHS cases that I plan to make available for download. I secure the cartridge with inch thick Styrofoam packing material.

Is there any room for the overlays in that box?

VHS cases, even Disney Style clamshells, are too small to fit an overlay though I could design it to fit any size, its all vector graphics.

Can I ask where you source the cases and that white foam insert from?

I got the cases from ebay but brodart.com has them cheap too. Sometimes goodwill/thrift stores have them for like a dollar but its best if you can find them without the tape hubs.

 

The foam can be found in a number of places by looking for packing material, used foam, re-purposed foam, foam sheets, etc.

You could also use anti-fatigue/foam gym flooring such as sold at Harbor Freight, Walmart, Sport Authority, etc.

i'd like to see a case like yours, but big enough to store the overlay, too.

The problem is that you can't find something deep enough to hold a cartridge AND wide enough/ tall enough to hold the overlay AND not have to pay like 10 bucks a unit. The idea is to keep it cheap otherwise you might as well just buy CIB.
