Atlantis Vs. Atlantis 2

Anyone know how many Atlantis 2's were made and also what is the best way to tell them apart from the original? From what I understand there are 4 versions of Atlantis?

 

(1) No pic label

(2) Day Pic

(3) Night Pic

(4) Atlantis 2

 

This the case or not?

Far as I know the only real difference between the two is the FONT on the score of the game.

 

And ALL Atlantis II were NIGHT PICTURE label. You never know, that Atlantis you have passed over at the flea market could be Atlantis II all this time....

atlantis 2 looks just like atlantis 1, it has the night label, and less fancy font in the text (thats the instant way to tell.) its also much harder and you only score like 1 point at a time iirc

I saw the one point thing in the write up on it...was more curious if there was a way to tell by just looking at the carts...anyone have scans of both if they are different fonts on the cart?

They are 100% identical.

Yes, the Atlantis II's I've seen all have the night scene label. Don't forget the blue label Atlantis!

 

If you find the box, like mine, there is a generic white sticker with Atlantis II typed on it (you can see it in the archives). I've seen a copy with the sticker attached to the cart but that person may have simply removed the sticker from the box, reattached it to the cart and discarded the box.

 

If you find Atlantis with the night scene, it's worth buying and only takes a second to pop it in and see if you only score one point for hitting the enemy ship.

 

Not sure if anyone found out how many were actually made for the contest. I would guess that the number would be small though, plus out of that, how many have survived?

For a while, I was buying all the night scene Atlantis carts I found...called them my lottery tickets, since they usually only cost $1, and they could be worth significantly more Sadly, none have come through (although I have only been able to find 3 Atlantis carts in the wild, total!!

It shows how the font is different, and there's a picture of the box with the white "ATLANTIS II" sticker on it..

I never realized that the cart is identical to one of the label variations from the original run. I may have one of these...I'm going to check when I sign off.
