Strangeland Atari 2600 Release

Just wanted to do a check on the interest for a release of Strangeland.

Strangeland was made for an autograph cartridge to be signed by Dee Snider.

 

 

Would you prefer a more expensive boxed version or just a cartridge and manual version??

 

STRANGELAND

 

A schizophrenic sadist by the name of Captain Howdy lures teens through the internet into his painful traps. After Captain Howdy captures his daughter, A detective starts pursuing him and eventually catches up with him. Instead of prison Captain Howdy is sent to a mental hospital, the Meistrich Psychiatric Institute.

You must help Captain Howdy battle his personal demons.

 

 

 

 

There may be two different versions released depending on interest.

Not the final version. The title is Strangle Hand on this BIN. The game may have additions and improvements in the final version. This is just a very early work in progress.

 

 

 

 

Description:

Captain Howdy must eliminate his personal demons! If his outstretched hand touches a demon points are awarded. Greater awards are given if the demon is eliminated while the arm matches its color. Demons who touch your arm will do one point of damage to your health. If all six hearts are gone so are you! Only one arm can appear on-screen at a time. Fully retract your arm to enable the opposite appendage. You can change your off-screen arms color by pressing the FIRE button. Occasionally a star will appear that randomly changes your current arms color and awards bonus points. At certain intervals the demons will begin to move faster.

 

Controls:

Use reset switch to reset game (including high score)

Press FIRE to start game, return to title screen or change off-screen arms color.

Press the joystick left or right to stretch Captain Howdy's arm.

To switch arms fully withdraw the on-screen appendage.

Set either switch to PRO to raise the arms height and increase game speed.

 

Score:

10 points for eliminating color mismatched demon

110 points for eliminating demon matching your on-screen arm color

5 points per continual contact with star

I would prefer a PREMIUM MOVIE EDITION (boxed edition), but would accept a STANDARD EDITION if the boxed edition does not materialize.

I'd be interested in something in between. Just a cart/ box/ manual without the additional movie paraphernalia would be fine for me. Basically the typical CIB release we usually see.

The art card is 4x6 printed with high gloss. This art of Captain Howdy was created by horror artist Joel Robinson and each card will be signed by Joel on the back. And No, The watermark is not on the card. He is extremely talented. Check out his work here: https://www.artpusher.net/

 

 

 

Here is the 8x10 signed photo that will be reprinted at full size on high quality photo paper. It is the only Strangeland signed photo I have ever seen signed by Dee Snider. I would love to have actual signed copies for everyone like was done with Phantasm , Angus Scrimm (The Tall Man), But I don't have any connection with Dee Snider so even if it was possible it would add $75-100 per photo.

 

 

The DVD will be a new unopened copy of Strangeland.

The budget for Strangeland was $2,000,000... unfortunately the film only made $631,221 in theaters. So in retrospect, You're showing was packed!

I saw it on opening night at a theater by my house in NJ...the theater was packed, but halfway through the movie, more than half of the audience had left. I guess they just didn't get it.

I've been querying about the game itself and it seems, even though it's not complicated, people enjoy it. As we explore the extreme reaches of what the Atari 2600 can do there is still a place for pick-up-and-play. This topic is very encouraging to me

 

Neotokeo2001 continues to blow me away with his gift for packaging. I've never really appreciated the things accompanying a movie game but he keeps surprising me.
