Level42
On Atarionline.pl A new 2600 conversion by Phaeron "Stampede" is Available for download. . Its amazing, its seems that Phaeron have the "recipe" on how to make such conversion. Maybe the info could be shared and we could have a team of programmers making many more of these 2600 conversion, Just a thought i had now. Anyway, its great playing actual 2600 games on the Atari 8-Bit : . Great Work Phaeron . Got a direct link or can you attach it here ? That site isn't actually very easy to search through, esp. if you don't speak Polish

atx4us
At the very least, you can run 2600 stuff outside the kernal without too much modification but inside the kernal where much of the graphics generation is taking place, you have to rework it and use alternate methods of showing some/all of the graphics. I've seen the "kernal" thing mentioned many times over the years but never looked into it. Doesn't the A800 have the kernal mode as well? Rybags
Kernal as in graphics kernal just refers to a method of doing graphics. A8 can do it as well. With 2600, it's about the only way to do graphics as the registers for bitmaps of playfield and objects have to be loaded by the CPU as the display is drawn. On A8 that process is automatic, kernals are usually just for stuff like colour changes and positional changes to get more PM objects down the screen. Use of kernals is evident in games like Basketball and Miner 2049er, mainly done so in both for colour changes of the human objects.
