Old Skool - Intellivision Cartridge Release

Recommended Posts

cmart, definitely will give it a go - would love to get to 7th floor eventually. Haven't played in a while - been so busy - any tips for floor 3? Also William, can you tell us if any new guys are awarded at certain points levels - just curious? Thanks.

I've found that using the doors between levels and then re-entering allows you to chip away at some of the tougher boards.

It is not a 'glitch', it is a 'feature'.

The programmer knows why it happens, but chose to leave it in, because it would have caused the game to slow down.

The explanation, is that a nerdy guy can't always bean off a bully with an eraser. It is not a 'sure thing' to take out a bully, so makes the game a bit challenging. Also, the bullies don't always catch the nerdy guy, and he can slip by them sometimes.

Lol....'feature' :-D

It's all good. It makes sense and adds an element of randomness to the game. I did also notice once that I walked through a bully in a hallway without getting a wedgie. Also pleasantly surprising.

Thanks for the info!

Wait, are we talking real life or in game here, Jason?

Heeheehee...

So, it sounds to me like cmart will get the batch of 50 box / manual / overlay and then dole them out to all of us who agree to get them, right? ;) FWIW, I'd get one set of such a package to fill out the copy I have, should the day come.

Oh, who's keeping track of how many people have "committed" ?

A small group is in talks with William about giving the nice Old School cartridge a fitting housing with some paperwork and plastics included too. I would also have a little surprise extra in mind.

As I understand from reading previous posts, you guys would like just box, manual, overlays instead of a complete release as you all have the cartridge by now. As a newbie in videogames funding (just commited to co-fund some future ColecoVision releases), I just was presented with a statement of costs for stemming a general homebrew release and it's one you would carefully calculate - not to make money, as this is not the funders intention, but to actually loose money.

This posting is not to get your hopes up, but to show that talks are happening. We will keep you posted about progress.

The terms are - Someone (or a group) buys 50 CIB copies at full price. Paid in advance before I even hire an artist.

I will sell box/overlay/manual sets to the people who want them for 30 dollars plus shipping.

I think that effectively threw water on the 'deal'.

I'd love to make a box guys, but I can not afford to lose money on one.

Yes, D2K has sold like gangbusters, but the other games, ....not so much.

William, just so I'm reading correctly, if there are enough folks here that prepay for 50 CIB, then you would commission an artist and print boxes/manuals/overlays packaged in the same style as your previous releases?

Not quite.

One person would have to make the purchase of 50 copies. I am NOT going to ship to 50 different people or 50 copies to 40 or 50 different people. I would manufacture and ship all 50 copies to ONE address.

Regardless, someone has currently agreed to purchase 50 copies and will become 'Executive Producer' on the game. Payment is pending. There is no need for anyone to email me regarding the 50 copies or individual copies. This person will be selling the initial 50 copies CIB in box. I will not be selling copies until he runs out of copies to sell.

More details to follow.

To clarify....

CIB copies will be serial numbered, and have the Executive Producer credit in the ROM.

People who supported us on this game, will have a 'variant' because their copies will NOT have the Executive Producer in their ROM. Their version will NEVER be made again.

On the other hand, CIB copies will be made available to anyone.

People who bought loose carts will be able to 'upgrade' with a box/overlays/manual for $30 plus shipping. There will be NO serial number on their copy.

Excellent news! I'm glad someone was able to step up. I'll be upgrading my four copies and buying two CIB to help ensure those 50 get sold quickly. As an aside, I'm surprised more of you haven't commented about the game itself as I'm finding it to be a lot of fun.
