NWC to give Air Raid a run for it's money as most expensive game

Well, at least the seller's legit! Still, I can't help but think that a fair chunk of those bids are trolls who caught wind of the media attention this has gotten. If it does sell though, a LOT more of these are probably going to suddenly come out of the woodwork into the open...

the NintendoAge thread on this has some interesting remarks on the listing:

If this was a pristine I could see some of the bidding. But with a label that bad?And close to 100K,all I can think is there

is a lot of shill bidding happening.

I noticed the seller states that he doesn't want to use PP,because of "security" concerns.Makes one wonder why?

Would you take what amounts to a short term cash float for a big sale like that? Especially when that float comes with a chunky fee, and a way for the buyer's wife/husband to force a buyer's remorse fake claim?

Been higher for quite a while. At least for account holders. Even at the $3K level it would not take all that long to transfer a $100K. But you would certainly raise some electronic eyes in doing so.

Lot's of bid retractions so far. Not surprised one bit.

Even though Vectrex is my thing I must admit the listing is interesting to me. Makes me want to put up my NES gold sudoku homebrew I bought a number of years back.

Yeah, seriously. If this turns out to be legit, even if it was done for money laundering, then there might be some huge spikes in similarly rare games...

The seller Muresan is legit and a known long time member on NintendoAge. The winning bidder, TBD. :ponder:

And minutes after the final auction ended, a new NWC #314 appears!

Interesting. Well, that viktormbv would be the Second Chance Offer person -- and it's only $100 lower. If he's got that much feedback, MIGHT be legit. Otherwise, the seller is SOL and will have to repost the auction. :(

That's the bad thing when someone tries to sell a rare item like this. With all the media attention that this got, there was bound to be some fake bidders. I could offer some advise to the seller if he has to relist this auction:

1) No one with feedback under 10 and/or 98 percent is allowed to bid.

2) Each bidder must provide references for somewhere on the net that shows them to be a collector.

3) Each bidder must answer the question in 50 words or less 'why do I want this game?'

That should take out 99 percent of the trolls.

Unfortunately I don't think you can set those rules on Ebay.

No way it's legit. Look at how the bids climb by exactly $100. Looks like a coordinated effort just to have some fun at the seller's expense.

No way this will sell anywhere near the current bid. Pat the NES Punk was willing to sell both his gray and gold NWC for $35,000 on Pawn Stars - and they wouldn't buy it.

While I actually enjoy watching Pawn Stars to waste 30 minutes of my life when I get a chance to play couch potatoe, that was as staged as staged can be.

Believe me, I have been following it on NA. Grade A douchebaggery if you ask me. I wish there were some legal recourse to sue people who act in this type of manner.

It's also somewhat of a common occurrence in the NES collecting world. As I said, no matter what this seller does, you can't stop faux bidders who also have huge feedback. Ebay has very few real protections against fraud for sellers, it's all about the buyers.

Well, for one, they will not allow payments above $10,000, or at least it used to be that way.
