Punisher5.0
I just left the local game shop, saved some money and snagged a CIB used Vita in good shape. Picked up a few games like Lumines (loved the PSP version!), Wipeout and Monkey Ball. Looking forward to picking up TxK when I get home later! Wipeout is one of my favorite games for the system. It's really fast and absolutely gorgeous. The only downside is the long loading times.
Austin
Yeah, I am looking forward to playing it. I really enjoyed the past Wipeout games.
+Stephen
I currently have Wipeout 2084 and Super Stardust Delta. Loving both of them.
Albert
I haven't played a Wipeout game in a long time. Will have to check out Wipeout on the Vita. I know nothing about Super Stardust Delta yet. ..Al
Austin
I played a few minutes of TxK. Totally amazing. It's basically Tempest 2000 in the first few levels (of which I played), albeit with some updated/awesome new special effects. Hell yes!! I haven't played a Wipeout game in a long time. Will have to check out Wipeout on the Vita. It's one of the cheaper games right now, which can't be a bad thing if the game is good (like the PSP versions were). I'm loading it up right now as I write this...
gyratory
Who me? Naw. You just seeing me sitting a lot. 5-10 min here and there. I would say 2 1/2hrs pure neon death ray all day today. My txk is a little on the strange side on save spots. I get them every 10 levels or more. Not based on best score. It kinda sucks. I'm wondering if lives count too. Or if my download is damaged. I also have the music cuts out 30sec or so into the game around level ...mid70s-80s. Its only one track so no biggie. Just very silent until the next music track/level begins. By the way you know I couldn't let anyone have first for long. It just that Tempest is one of my favs and I'll prove it..lol 20140215_163922.jpg haha That's me at number 10 Love this game. It's immense
Major Havoc 2049
I'm glad I bought a PS Vita (OLED version) when I did. I went to my local Gamestop and they didn't have any left and then went over to Target and they only had one left. The US has a crappy selection of accessories for the Vita, so might have to hit up an online import shop for some decent accessories. I got Persona 4 Golden, Gravity Rush and of course TxK for my Vita. I'm a big Phantasy Star fan and bought a PSP mainly just to play Phantasy Star Portable and Phantasy Star Portable 2, so I'm also geeked for Phantasy Star Nova on the Vita. Finally starting to put in some serious time on TxK. I'm up to almost 2 million on Classic, 1.3 million on Pure and around 900k on Survival.

It's basically Tempest 2000 in the first few levels (of which I played), albeit with some updated/awesome new special effects. Hell yes!! Hell no! Its basically not...you will find out why its so much cooler...your not even past the trainer levels yet. Your mind will pop in the "good" levels. OK its still tempest in ungraded pretty as hell looks. But the enemies and new players leaning web tricks...and the angry killer webs change the way you ever played it before. MAYAman
Seriously, it's not coming out on anything else for at least 3 months and the hint could be for ps4 just as easily as PC. Buy a Vita. Buy TxK. </hardcoresonyfanboisoapboxing> I've played it. It's far more than that. Analogue sticks >>>>>>>>>> Jaguar spinner>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Jaguar dpad. I love it on Vita but a proper spinner like the JediJeff I have for T2K destroys any analog stick by miles and miles. Albert
I should buy a proper spinner for the Jaguar. I agree that a spinner with T2K would be ideal, versus the analog sticks in TxK. ..Al
sh3-rg
Spinners are fun but they are susceptible to a little twitchiness when you rotate a little too fast and with a frantic game that can hurt you :0) BTW, Minter was on a train to Sony in London yesterday... met up with the indie team and, well, who knows what he's signed up to do next? I think he's enjoying being far from the hell that was iOS development. Please be TxK for ps4 with cross-buy

Charlie_
I dig this new Vita Tempest. Isn't there a new "cheaper" model of the Vita coming out?

Charlie_
Ya, a smaller redesign with an LED screen instead of an OLED. Happen to know the release date? Any word on how the LED stands up next to the OLED? I was an early adopter of the Vita. I think it is a fantastic system. There hasn't been too much I want to play on it in a while though... Dragon's Crown I like but no matter what type off character I make I start loosing interest after about 7 hours of play.

JagLynx4Life
FYI if your have a PS plus acct. TxK (tempest 2k) is available for Free to download at the PS store right now. It's amazing that several folks bought a Vita just for Tempest... That's awesome! All we need now is a port for our beloved Lynx
NeoGeoNinja
I spoke to 'Giles' (is it?) at REPLAY at Blackpool in May and he indicated that he had a separate team working on bringing TxK to BOTH PS3 & PS4! As a PS3 owner with neither PSV or PS4, my fingers are firmly crossed!...
Lynxpro
Tearaway - you're doing it right! When you get set up, OlliOlli and Surge Deluxe are two to look out for, hearing good things from the guys who love TxK. My son would say Frobisher Says, it's free and he's 2 so ymmv :0) Is that a reference to the 6th Doctor's comic book companion Frobisher who was a shape-shifting space penguin? Lost Dragon
I was chatting to Simon Phipps talking about Jeff Minter this afternoon: (Simon) :'I did have the pleasure of visiting an Atari Jaguar dev con many years ago at which he spoke. I think it was held in some hotel near Heathrow. Anyways, the guy hosting basically brought out the Jaguar technical manual then proceeded to read through it, aloud to the about 100 of us that were there. Absolute tedium. After about an hour, Jeff gets up and suggests that everyone would be more interested in seeing what the kit could do, rather than have a page-by-page list of registers read to us. So Jeff gets up, fires up the kit and then shows us one of his amazing light synthesizer-type demos for the next 30 minutes explaining how the gear worked, accompanied by the psychedelic lightshow running on the Jaguar dev kit. Never worked on the Jaguar in any capacity after that day, but I'll remember the day forever because of Jeff's work.' Thought it'd be nice story to share on here.
Zerosquare
A somewhat similar story: http://www.obsolete-tears.com/anecdotes-atari-dossier-67.html Translation of the relevant part: "Atari used to hold international meetings for Jaguar developers from time to time. I went to one of those (with Rodolphe [Czuba] and other people) in London. Developers were gathered in a meeting room, and could ask questions to the development specialists that came from the USA. Someone asks a tricky question about the blitter. There's a pause, then one of the Atari guys dives into a confused explanation, stutters... Even if I was far from mastering the Jaguar's blitter, I could tell it was bullshit. In the middle of a sentence, he stops to think. ------------------ Rodolphe [Czuba]: INDEED! The guy was Bill Rebok (I'm not sure about the spelling), an Atari manager in the USA and a developer, I think... He had a high rank in the company... -------------------- Thierry [schembri]: Then, Jeff Minter (Tempest's developer, wearing his famous pullover featuring a llama head) stands up, climbs on stage, gently pushes away the guy from Atari, and answers the question with a clear explanation. Atari representatives looked rather dumb when Minter got applause from the crowd at the end of its explanation... It told something about how competent they were."
