JagChris
I think Klax would be cool if someone did a bubble bobble type conversion for the ST Klax to get it to run on the Jaguar. Just a thought.
+LS650
Sounds great. Maybe you would like to step up and do that?
JagChris
Would if I could.
+Gemintronic
Still think modifying EmuTOS and hooking hardware calls has some merit. Perhaps even a driver so that anything after the modified TOS looks like a disk drive with a disk in it. That way you could just copy /b the disk image onto the ROM. Alas, I lack skillz. +CyranoJ
Is this a request for an 8-bit game on the Jaguar, or yet another shoddy 16 bit port? I'm confused!

It would be an expert level troll to get those 2600 emulator/wrappers working and send JagChris the 2600 version of Klax

sh3-rg
Erm... thanks for the DP, AA! Edit: Well, as I'm taking up two slots.... erm... Klax on Lynx was just so right, but that's probably more nostalgia than anything.
ggn
Is this a request for an 8-bit game on the Jaguar, or yet another shoddy 16 bit port? I'm confused! But it has 3D! You could unleash the POWA of the GPU and Blitter and make Klax 3D!!!!... and of course make everything run at 10FPS which would be a great feature for a frantic puzzle!
LinkoVitch
Klax is a great game and would be nice for it on the Jag, but I'd prefer a native Jag version. Of course this requires obtaining permission or some constructive re-imagining TBH It's be great if there were more games on the Jag, lets do that
+CyranoJ
Yeah I'm just joshing.. Most 8bit games play a lot better than the 64bit POWA likes of Trevor McFur

JagChris
I have the TG16 version which is really nice. Blows the Genesis version away. Which do you think is better? The TG or Lynx version? Klax on Lynx was just so right, but that's probably more nostalgia than anything.
+Gemintronic
If we turn off the 68k and just use the RISC you'd be forced to write a kernel that must load rolling chunks of the main loop into memory! That'd be link playing Klax at the code level.. truly superior!! P.S. Yes, I'm joking around. I don't even know what I just said
+remowilliams
P.S. Yes, I'm joking around. I don't even know what I just said That's okay, neither do most other people who talk about turning off the 68K
+Gemintronic
Is RMotion enough or is there too much game logic to rely on it alone?
+CyranoJ
Probably most of it could be done with RMotion, the line logic would have to be standalone.
+Gemintronic
Yeah. I started thinking of a system using sprite collisions and dummy objects to "tally" the rows and columns. My head hurts.
+CyranoJ
You really need to talk to Matmook for RMotion specifics.
+Gemintronic
You really need to talk to Matmook for RMotion specifics. I tried to find him in some other Atari related forum but failed. I'll continue hunting, though!

+Gemintronic
http://jagware.org is probably your best bet. I keep clicking on that link and it brings me back to http://atariage.com/forums/topic/221435-klax-atari-st-to-jaguar-conversion/ Should I press the mouse button harder each time? ..just kidding. Yeah. That's the place I went. It can't hurt to try again! I heard a dirty rumor he was thinking about a BASIC-like scripting language. +CyranoJ
Don't listen to Jaguar rumors, they are nearly always wrong Go to the source, ask directly
108 Stars
I have the TG16 version which is really nice. Blows the Genesis version away. Which do you think is better? The TG or Lynx version? I wouldn't even know how one version of a game like Klax could blow another one away. It's a freakin' puzzle game, no graphical master piece with astonishing graphics effects. The only way to screw up Klax is probably to do it in black & white.
JagChris
You'd probably have to see and play them to see how I see it. But maybe you wouldn't. The TG-16 version just seems like so much more care was put into the conversion than the Genesis version. Graphically its a lot better. A lot more attention to detail compared to the arcade. I wouldn't even know how one version of a game like Klax could blow another one away.
