FibroFreak78 #1 Posted January 30, 2014 Info needed plz What modding can be done to a model 2 (like can u play Japanese games too, etc?) How much do these run and anyone do these??
eightbit #2 Posted January 30, 2014 (edited) I have modded hundreds of them, and it is not all that hard on the model 2 as long as you are somewhat handy with a solder iron. And, you need the modchip. Check Racketboy for these. They have gone up in price significantly in the past few years. Rex Dart #3 Posted January 30, 2014 There are separate region and backup mods that can be done. Modding a Saturn to play imports is pretty easy and only requires a switch (or multiplexer from an old Genesis 3-button controller), but modding one to play backup copies does require a modchip to be installed. Both are terribly simple to do. Modchips of varying build quality exist; try not to get a flimsy crappola one.
FibroFreak78 #4 Posted January 30, 2014 ok, so u both suggest grabbing a "modchip" from racketboy then? And will either of u possibly preform the service if I follow thru w/ the purchase? Cost? And ty both for the replies
Austin #5 Posted January 30, 2014 If you want to only play imports, just get a Game Shark or an Action Replay. If burned games is what you are mainly trying to do, then yeah, a modchip is about the only way to go.

goldenegg #7 Posted January 31, 2014 If you haven't made your purchase yet, you might want to consider this chip http://www.segastyle.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=76 I haven't tried it yet, but it's supposed to have greater compatibility across different models of the Saturn.
