SIO2USB -- does work well?

Has anyone tried the SIO2USB connector on an 800XL?

 

Is it any good?

 

I'm wondering if is actually is possible to send a program over the USB cable (e.g. a game) and have it run on the Atari, without the need of a disk drive or cassette recorder.

You probably mean "SIO2PCviaUSB". SIO2USB is something totally different.

You also need the required Software to transmit game info to the Atari through the SIO port..

I use the atarimax APE SIO2PC USB exactly for that purpose all the time and works like a champ.

Speaking of which, I finally went for the AtariMax Maxflash programmer and 8Mb cartridge.

 

The first word out of my mouth was "Wow!"

 

Seriously, this thing is BRILLIANT. That and the software that comes with it is elegant, refined, and well designed.
