MagitekAngel #4 Posted February 9, 2014 Already picked one up when I noticed the sale. Just make sure you've got a PS3 controller handy for when it arrives.
Reaperman #5 Posted February 9, 2014 (edited) So, how many of you are going to order one? A whole world of 'Nope' for me. I'm not buying another at any price. If you attempt it, make sure to bring along a controller that actually works and some rose-colored glasses. CGQuarterly #6 Posted February 9, 2014 Is it even good for emulation? A whole world of 'Nope' for me. I'm not buying another at any price. Osgeld #7 Posted February 9, 2014 more appropriately is it better than a 45$ hdmi android stick and a ps3 controller for emulation
+RevEng #8 Posted February 9, 2014 more appropriately is it better than a 45$ hdmi android stick and a ps3 controller for emulation It's more capable than the $45 hdmi android stick. I bought one of these and Ouya outperforms it. More importantly to me, the android stick screwed up when more than 2 Xbox360 controllers were plugged into it via a hub, but Ouya used the same hub with 4 Xbox360 controllers without a problem. This wasn't a power thing, as I tried both powered and unpowered USB hubs. Its a good emulation box and XBMC player. For whatever reason, Ouya is prone to bluetooth interference, which is where most of the controller complaints come from. (for the updated controllers, anyway)

(for the updated controllers, anyway) This. I never had a lick of problems with my controller except in Pinball Arcade. Then recently my control gets all erratic playing an FPS. I do some research and find that people got good results by tipping the Ouya down so the top is facing you. Sounded like a "put your hand in the TV and stand on one leg for better reception" trick. It was-I could play normally doing that. Thing is, I shouldn't have to. I haven't tried a PS3 controller the point is I shouldn't have to either. Granted I got the Kickstarter model but I shouldn't need a third party controller to make everything "work". Just my two Zenny on that.
OldSchoolRetroGamer #11 Posted February 10, 2014 I have been tempted several times but I already have so many android devices and then of course I also realize I do not have a display with HDMI input lol, might have to do something about that someday....... AtariLeaf #12 Posted February 14, 2014 How is the emulation on the Ouya? Do emulators cost money to download? Looking mainly for 2600/7800/XL/NES/SNES/GEN/TG16/GB/GBC/GBA/FAMICOM/SMS/CV and Coco if they have it Starting to contemplate an Ouya over the Retron 5 so was hoping for some opinions on those who've heavily used the emulators. Manoau2002 #13 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) For the price the ouya is a great deal. It's a good way to play android based games with a controller on a hd tv. (i am not a fan of touch controls) The nvidia shield is better as it is an official android device. (google play access) Nvidia also has developed a mapper to map touch games to physical controls. However, the price is much higher 250 vs. 75. Edited February 16, 2014 by Manoau2002

I tried out the NES one they had available in Discover. It looked really nice but the sound was at a higher pitch and I swear the game had frame skipping turned on as things moved faster than the original. No I did not fiddle with the settings as I wanted to test it "right out of the box", as it were.
